Well, what I wound up doing wasn't ideal. For some reason when sounds are played, I couldn't record them just by playing them via the windows recorder or using my older Sound Forge app. No matter how I set up the record/playback selections (using a XFi card). I had to plug a splitter from the speake...

.osf files
Hey all, I know how to get from .wav to .osf, but is there any way to get from .osf to .wav, or .mp3? I've got a huge taunt file directory and I want to archive them to pare the directory down and put the files in a format that doesn't requre me to open Descent every time to listen to them. I don't ...

That's a nice board. After a little bit of looking, I found that board with a AMD 64 3000+ for about $260. It'll be a bit before I can scrounge up the cash for the board/cpu, memory (2 sticks as advertised by Mr. P @ $200) , and Gfx card (add another $200). That's $660 at this time, I rounded up for...

Yes, the $200 is for the Gfx card alone; and I'm glad to hear the SLI is a waste of time, I wasn't looking forward to the hefty current initial purchase price. Yes, Mr. P, the idea definitely is to get something of fair/good quality now that will function as a quality part in the future upgrade. I r...

NIC onboard processor
When I was browsing for XP tweaks I found an article that mentioned that the onboard processor of the NIC is usually disabled by XP. The processor can be enabled by some simple registry editing. What's the benefit? Is it worth it? Will it cause any other problems or limitations?

Hey all, This is probably a very opinionated subject, but I'd like to see what everyone's thoughts are. I'm looking for a new Gfx card and memory for my PC. Now, before someone suggests that I buy some liquid-nitrogen-cooled-budget-busting-neon-glowing contraption, let's try for something a guy with...

Mobius, I've done this already, and it was by far the biggest pain in the @$$ I've ever had to deal with on my PC. Maybe I did everything wrong, but here's my story: I wanted to move my XP install from my 60Gb HDD to my spankin-new 120Gb high speed drive along with all of my directories and files on...

What a cute game; realistic motion, and, from what I can see, realistic AI reactions. So sad though. I mean, really... People don't have enuff time for a real pet? I've watched my VHS Star Wars Trilogy so much that it's starting to get a little fuzzy. We recently bought the new DVD set, and, IMHO, it BLOWS. All these lame @$$ SFX fixes. The original, in all it's low-buck cheesyness, was by far the better movie. Half the fun of watching the orginal was seeing a...

I avoid fast food as much as I can. I can count the number of times I've eaten fast food this year on one hand. I avoid it for many reasons: It's bad for you, it makes me feel ill after eating it, I've got food poisoning twice from a McD's , it's anti-worker's rights. Read this book: http://www.nyti...

The best I can see with those pics at that angle makes it look like nothing more than a fold in the fabic. Even if it isn't just a fold in the fabric and it is a transceiver of some sort, is Bush incapable of answering his own questions (bit like cheating on a test, isn't it?), or is he not bright e...

Happiness tends to be different things to different people. For some, it is the pusuit of success in some venture; whether it be the stock market or climbing mountains. For others, it may be a good home life with their family. IMHO, I think each person defines happiness in their own way. I'm pretty ...
