Get D1x - it is Descent 1 updated as a Windows program with various addons. I don't own D1 myself, so I don't know how good it is, but I use D2x , which is a variant of it for D2. It is a bit unstable, but unlike original Descent 1 & 2, it works nicely on modern machines. D2x is also available f...

Please explain how to calibrate it to be accurate at such a range - you'd have to be able to set the position of the laser to hundredths of a millimetre.

That has what to do with the fact that we, 12% of the planet, provide over 60% of the food aid year after year after year in addition to all the other aid we give and not just once in a while 24/7/365!! The food that is being burned could be being provided as aid. I am not complaining about the aid...

It would take an awful lot of modifications to make a laser like that work with any kind of tracking device - I'm sure it wouldn't be possible to get than kind of accuracy either withought extremely precise design and calibration - if it is happening (which I believe is possible), whoever is doing i...

And burns half of it to keep the farmers happy.

Note on that graph that most of the other countries on there have populations significantly less than the US, so they are giving more per capita.

I don't like that graph; it makes the U.S. look bad. Let's see one for total dollars pledged per country instead. Per capita is a much better way of giving statistics - for example, a large country such as the USA can give more because of its larger population and high GNP. Norway only has a popula...

It is still not possible for a small, battery powered personal laser pointer to either have the power or the tracking capability to lock onto, and interfere with an aeroplane several thousand feet above sea level. If we were talking about commercial laser show equipment, that could possibly be a dif...

Well according to the page, this bird was extinct 200 years before the Maori arrived. Anyway, what did they know about ecology and conservation back then? Us Europeans seem to know an awful lot about boogering up the environment anyway...

You can't blame us for a bird that was extinct before humans arrived :).

I think some of the CE/Pocket PC PDAs have PCMCIA support - one of my friends has an older Compaq one (I can't remember the model), which has a 'backpack' thing that it slips into that gives it an extra battery and a PCMCIA slot - it weighs a ton and is uncomfortable to hold with the backpack on, bu...

So do the New Zealanders - all the big cities are OK as far as nightlife goes, as far as I know.

BTW, Red_Baron and RedBaron are the same person (me, I think). Long story, to do with forgotten passwords. Sorry.

I'm a Christian, too, and I couldn't sing to save my life (I love the music, though - I just do my part at the sound desk). At my Church's Christmas eve service, one of our pastors did an AMAZING rendition of 'Oh Holy Night' - it is a beautiful song - it just sets something off inside me. Sing. I, p...

It does that in D2x 0.2.5 on Linux compiled from the sources - a bug in the D2x keyboard handler maybe?
