Edward's idea sounds cool to me. I'm not sure if it can be done though. I don' know if the screen can be split when the card is in opengl mode. (but it is definitely possible at desktop mode) Imho this kinda thing really fits descent 1/2, but it would ask a lot from the 3D card...4 screens yay:) I d...

.42: Flickering artifact at energy center fixed :)
Level complete screen, purple font still distorted, which happens at level 1 & 2 (confirmed) so probably at any end level screen.

Dito Ferno's post. Energycenter on level 1, go there, you might see some orange flickering artifacts like I did. Endscreen level 1, possibly other levels too: somewhat corrupted (distorted, garbled) purple font-texture...same font in other color (gray) were ok. I have not double checked this yet, I ...

Just wondering. Is it possible to do better lightning for the weapons? I find that the current system is not quite accurate. This comes obvious when flying backwards while shooting lasers. You can see that de lightning follows the ship in a jerky way without any interpolation...(from not lit, to lit...

3803, Well, as I think about it, I had disabled the shaders in one D2X-W32 versions, but re-enabled them in v1.4.35 as lightmapping didn't work properly w/o them in all cases. The versions I have tried didn't suffer from very noticable performance-loss until 1.4.35. Possibly I haven't tried the fir...

Just letting you know that lightmapping has slowed down compared to the previous release. (Rendering that is, not calculating) Not that I mind but it could come in handy finding bugs concerning lightmapping. My card it a firegl t2 128MB (render card) I'm pretty sure this card is based on the ati 960...

D2_3DFX still looks and plays better at 60 FPS and doesn't aggrivate my epilepsy nearly as often as any other Exe I've used. I experience the 3dfx version as more laid back and cleaner in a matter of graphics, not nicer per se, but I can't tell why. But D2X has more features I like, so I use D2X. A...

Diedle is apparently doing very well at keeping the documentation current. -and I do not think D2X-WIN is inherently all that hard to understand. It's just that, apparently, some of the finer aspects of using it must be hard to explain to lay people. -That's why you need a manual, not just document...

I somewhat follow you Thankie. Some settings might be quite confusing to the 'novice' user of d2x. The original version had pretty straight forward options while Diedel's version is a lot more optimized and tweaked. The default settings should do, though. They should give you the experience most sim...

Good to hear that D1 did not use FM synths for soundFX (some games do, think of stunts, lotus3) I claimed that 'emulation was stupid'(lol you really should take that with a grain of salt, you know :) ) I thought it was encredibly useless to implement emulation code for a single sound effect in the g...

Thanks for answering. Since it is optional to render the whole map I can live with it, I was just asking. Thx for the minus key hint. With soundblaster fm/effects he probably means that D1 used the soundblaster fm-chip to generate some sound effects. (note that i have not played d1, so I'm not entir...

Coloured light flicker. Dynamic Lights is a term I got from the Doomsday Project. No, not at all, it's fine the way it is.

i meant despite that the transparency effect is simple, it makes things look more fancy and affects the gameplay in a positive way for me.

What I was trying to say that fancy pixelshaders aren't always needed for a better feel. :)

Transparent Explosions

I was wondering if you could implement transparent explosions like in the 3dfx version. This probably causes the menu...
