...Because CH and TM use different methods of passing hat positions to games, there're differences how the slider, hat and buttons are handled during gameplay: - in CH mode you can't press more than 1 button simultanousely, eg. if you press the hat up, the trigger won't react until you release the ...

Just now, I was able to get my joystick working in analog mode on all axis! I am using the CH Pro mode in DOS MW2 with my sidewinder in position 1. The trick to getting the axis to respond was to calibrate the joystick real quick. If I fly through the axis calibration, all the axis respond! If I ...

Re:
try the MekTek forums? Those guys are pros when it comes to Mechwarrior. I USED to play Mech 2, but it's been so long, that I've forgotten a lot of config tweaking I did .. and I had to do a LOT of it. The game was quite buggy when it came to controllers. Hey, thanks for the advice! I'll go post ...

Just to clarify this -- the stick is in analog mode by default (after powering up) and has to be set explicitly into digital overdrive mode via software. The switch in the back will select betw. CH and TM emulation in analog mode and becomes useless in DODM (well, almost. Switching it als resets ...

Mechwarrior 2 for DOS v1.1 Sidewinder 3D Pro Issues
Gang, Thanks, so much, for helping me to get my Sidewinder 3D Pro working in Descent. All is well now, but on to the next issue! I am using the same joystick that I know works (all buttons and axis from the work I did to get Descent working properly). I try to setup the joystick in digital mode ...

Glad you got it working :) [...] Thanks for all of your help, Grendel and everyone else who helped to get this working. Thanks for the suggestions to replace my semi-broken Sidewinder 3D Pro as well. I am glad to hear that the dead throttle is normal (as I expected). You guys rock and I really do ...

Sorry, back in the time I used a dedicated gameport card (to prevent issues like this :)), never used the GP of an ISA Creative card (I do know that the PCI SB16 port works tho..) Best advice I can come up w/ is to get and try an older (non SCSI !) SB16 card (the one you got was introduced in '97 ...

Do you have a free PCI slot? Free up the ISA for the compensator card I have and get a cheap PCI card. The card has dual ports and a variable speed adjustment pot. Worked tickity-boo in Descent and it saw both ports. Problem is that I play many games that require ISA soundcards to work. Some that ...

Re:
if you're running JUST DOS, that's probably your problem. iirc, the sidewinder used some of the first Dx software ... which DOS doesn't support by itself. You will probably need at least Win95b. (that's my guess at any rate.) Descent 1 is a DOS only game (at least the version I am running), so that ...

Re:
Let me restructure that quote from above a bit -- if you don't see 4 good values for each joystick line after setting up the CH stick you may have a problem w/ the joystick port or Joyfix is messing up the values. This is where I am confused. When I setup the Sidewinder 3D Pro as CH Flightstick in ...

You mentioned slowing down your machine in your initial post. If that is an acceptable option, you might consider one of the DOS slowdown techniques listed on this page: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=8070 The "Runtime Error 200" issue is a timing issue, so if you slow the machine down ...

Re:
Why exactly would I need a gameport to USB adapter for Descent 1? The game, in DOS, does not support USB joysticks to my knowledge!? Am I wrong?! There's a bug in Windows that causes problems with gameports on high FSB machines which in turn interferes with the Sidewinder. That adaptor bypasses the ...

Thanks, but I have heard of Rebirth, but would prefer to have the original game. Any ideas? :( P.S. I AM supposed ...

Descent 1 Joystick Issue
Gang, I have Descent 1 running on a P3 733 MHz PC with 128MB RAM. The mobo is a Gigabyte with an ISA slot, so I am using a Soundblaster Vibra 16 ISA soundcard. I have the Sidewinder 3D Pro joystick running through the soundcard's game port. Everything seems to work fine with the joytick set in the ...

akula65, When I was directed to your posting by a comrade of mine, I got very excited. Here's the deal. I have a P4 2.8GHz w/800 FSB on an Asrock P4S61 mobo, SB Live! 5.1, x800GTO AGP, etc. I also have an AMD 1800+ 1.533 GHz @ 266FSB on an Asus A7M266 mobo using on-board sound, LAN with a Geforce 4 ...

Re:
FSB speed is the problem. I had it working on 2.8 P4's after the NB/SB reached operating temp as well. Dedicated gameports on SB PCI cards are more likely to work for unknown reasons. I have a P4 2.8GHz on an Asrock motherboard with 800MHz FSB and am running Windows XP SP3. I recently pulled my old ...
