Have you ever used Rivatuner at any point, or any software that uses a driver wrapper? The same scenario happened to me when I went from my 6800GT to 7600GS forgetting to uninstall the nvstrap driver that comes with Rivatuner. After I put the old card back in and uninstalled nvstrap everything ...

You cannot get financial aid from the government for private colleges (most that is... those religious ones). Has to do with the whole seperation of church and state. So yea, it will be a lot more expensive.

I like nVidia's geforce better but with the betterness comes a higher price, which I cannot afford. I'd like to see what ATI cards can do with their new multi-GPU solution (whatever the hell they call it I don't remember).

Go Geforce 6600GT or ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, both are about the same speed, 6600GT might be a bit more expensive. Both are right around your price range.
