Can any one tell me how to destroy the lighting tower. I'm at a complete loss

They key is the four towers around it. In each of those towers, there is a skinny part about halfway down. Shoot that part. If you can't find it, just keep shooting different parts of the small tower until sparks shoot out. Then shoot that part until it blows up. Do the same with the other three. The big tower will automatically self-destruct.

And after you destroy the towers, you can have fun rolling the balls from the top of the towers around. (Watch them go up as the smaller towers explode, then come back down. You should see a black smoke trail behind each one.)

Try hitting them with Vauss to really launch them.

dammit!
the only way i got on there was by cheating.
i used the kill all robots cheat.
but this would be much more satisfying.
actually haveing robots to kill afterwards.
and the theifbot as a miniboss before the supertheif

meh. tried it in 1.4 and it doenst happen anymore. actually, 1.3.4 it works if you use the cheat to destroy all bots. ontime i got zapped as it was flying heheh.
but without cheating, you disable it completely.
also, ever tried luring the supretheif outside? its fun when he kill all the other robots. watch out when he is attacking a RAS-3 stinger; they will double-team on you with missles while still trying to kill each other because of that virus forcing that demented thirst to kill.
