The front end's kind of ugly, but I'll bet it really hauls.

It's a fun car to drive with the power to weight ratio. I do miss the power sterring though =/ Ya know, if your friend has the cash I've seen some Turbo's and FMIC sets for that car putting it around 270 WHP -- now that will be fast and more fun!!!

In the latest Sport Compact Car magazine -- they have a Lotus deisgned by ForceFed -- they have a Lotus in the making that has 400 HP which would give the Elise a power to weight ratio similar to a McLaren F1.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!

Top Gear drove this car and were very underwhelmed by it (initially) as they couldn't get any decent track times out of it (It was off by more than 6 seconds from other similarly speced cars) so they rang lotus, and their test driver came out to show them how to drive it:

To get anywhere fast in the elise, you have to turn in savagely, making the car understeer something absolutely shocking, and then bury the gas before the apex, creating oversteer, and seriously, the thing is ALWAYS sliding in order to make fast progress.

Not my idea of how to drive a supercar!

I believe they are under 40K depending on the options you get.

My grandfather and great-grandfather had a few Elans Europas and Cortinas between them. This guy has an Elan and maybe even a seven, I can't really tell if it's a Lotus 7 or a Caterham 7.

The elise costs around 45k for the basic package after the most recent price hikes due to the dollar dropping.

IMO, Lotus's are great no compromise sports cars designed by the now deceased Chapman and hand assembled in Hethel, England.

btw, is your friend a member at www.elisetalk.com ?

EDIT: actually, I think I found him here -> http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthr ... t=unibrain

according to his sig, its a caterham 7 he has, and a fairly new one at that.

The front end ugly? That car is probably one of the few cars that I prefer the looks of over the Mustang. Maybe I would classify it more as an equal in my book. Thought I saw a 2001 a while back for around 36k?

I love the car anywho. Probably my favorite right up with the 66-67 or 2005 stangs.

I would leave the top off and get it in a light or dark blue color however. :) Yellow isn't too bad of a color on that car but not my preference. Sweet ride though.

To me, those headlight covers are way oversized; they make the thing look like a giant insect. And nothing, and I mean nothing, beats the 'Stang's front end. :D

Yep that's him. And yes, it is a caterham. I think it is less than 5 years old. It's for sale if you want it.

LOL, I'd love to have a Caterham, but its kind of difficult for a high schooler to come up with the money for that. heh :)

Huh? I HAVE the Top Gear clip where Tiff (one of my heroes) drives it and loves it. "This Elise is almost perfect."

And by the way, Dedman, I am soooooo jealous. I've wanted to drive that car for a very long time.
