Connection status icon

I have a computer that is using a varation of Aol(Walmart connect) to connect to the internet and ive never been able to have the connection status icon in the taksbar display.
Sometimes i see very brefly when i log on but it is very quicky hidden for some reason.

Windows me
Intel pentium 4 1.60 ghz
256 mb of ram
Conexant HCF V90 56K Data Fax PCI Mode
Nvidia Geforce 2 mx/mx400 forceware 71.84
Dx9

Do you mean the little PC icon that says you are "Connected to AOL @ 53,333bps"?

Yes.
Mine is hidden for some reason.
in options under dial up networking ive got the little box checked that says "Display modem status"

Taskbar properties...

CUSTOMIZE...

Find process... Highlight it.

Select Drop Down option: ALWAYS SHOW.

Click OK.

Click APPLY.

VOILA!
