Surgery this morning ...

Post by Iceman »

Tore a rotator cuff in my left a while back ... had it repaired this morning. I have a great surgeon though ... he re-did a failed ACL reconstruction and it is as strong as ever. He also repaired a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder a few years back and it is strong also. I have been away from the gym for two months because of this crap and I am anxious to get back to it. I am so sick of being over 40, things tear now and it takes me forever to recover compared to when I was younger.

Rotator cuff injuries suck. Hope this one recovers as well as the other!

Actually the source of the problem is arthritis ... a simple bone spur sat under the muscle cutting away at it while I worked out. Part of the procedure he did was to chisel away that spur. This is exactly the same thing that happened to my other shoulder and it works just fine now so I have good reason to be optimistic about it.

Welcome to the club Ice. I recently tore my left shoulder's rotator cuff -- not badly but enough to be seriously annoying. This all started back in highschool for me with swimming. Bothered me all the way through my college career as well.

I've also had my right knee reconstructed 3 times...I'm not 40 but I'm almost 30. Sucks getting older...every time you get injured it takes longer and longer to recover...

Take your time on getting back to the gym ...especially with the pressing movements..Good luck!

Luckily I haven't had that experience yet. Good luck with the surgery! At least it's not life threatening. :)
