so whats your favorite old vintage series?, buck rodgers, flash gordon, superman etc

for me its B5 without a doubt, next would probably be Star Trek original, I remember watching it in 1967 as a kid, it was ground breaking for its day, probably after that Buck Rogers, any show with Erin Grey and Pamela Henlsy in spandex can be all that bad

I have to vote for TNG as well, if you can consider that 'vintage'. I know it's pushing it. I did also like Babylon 5, but watched less and it's much more recent. Tracking it down somewhere and watching the whole thing start to finish does appeal, but lands in the 'maybe some day' file.

Sadly, most shows before then didn't do it for me. Growing up in the 1990s meant most older sci-fi shows - like ST:TOS (at least some of it, it was reasonable at other times), Blake's 7, BSG, Buck Rogers and Logan's Run (okay, so it was a movie) looked hideously dated and actually kind of awkwardly scripted/written.

BSG and Buck Rogers in particular had far too much cheese for me to be able to watch much of. (Although for the latter the extremely frequent "I could have told you the future wouldn't look like that back then, never mind now" moments didn't help.)

Still, 20 years from now, for instance, Star Trek: Enterprise will probably have its own fair share of 'futuristic' stuff turned terribly off-tack, even if the story doesn't turn sour as well.

there was an earier one, 1933 `buck rogers in the 25th century` filmed for the worlds fair. any of you remember that one? and if you have a copy gimme gimme

When it comes to shows not featuring space ships and interstellar travel, The Outer Limits pwns all. That show is just amazing, it beats down every other sci-fi TV show that's ever existed and will come in the future. I never caught the 50s series but the 90s one still blows me away.

The show's trademark ending style is just gold; I love how you can never bank on it being a "good" ending. Easily the best edginess and risk-taking I've ever seen on TV. A show that can leave you sad, happy, depressed, optimistic, angry, scared, stunned, freaked, or even downright plain TERRIFIED has to be amazing!

Major props to the 60s Twilight Zone though. That series was amazing too. And the music theme is legendary dammit!
