I think there's only one movie on that list that I saw and didn't like, which makes it an excellent list. Considering the number of my top favorites on the list, that means I could use it as a pretty reliable guide for new movies to rent. Thanks!
It's pretty weird that Raising Arizona and Being John Malkovich aren't on the list.
Other suggestions:
Office Space
Real Genius
Birdy
Shakespeare in Love
Spirited Away
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Minority Report
Fearless (the 1993 one with Jeff Bridges; there are a couple others with the same title)
Amelie
Delicatessen

I saw Crash. I liked it. It was very strong in some areas, but as a whole, I'm not sure it really fits here. Have you seen "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas?Flabby Chick wrote:Caught the movie "Crash" on dvd the other day. Excellent film...in my flabby opinion of course.
EDIT: Not the David Cronenberg movie of the same name, which i thought was drivel.
Which one? Maybe I should remove it.aldel wrote:I think there's only one movie on that list that I saw and didn't like, which makes it an excellent list.

Hehe. I thought about putting both of those on there. I enjoyed them both. I'll still thinking about them.aldel wrote: It's pretty weird that Raising Arizona and Being John Malkovich aren't on the list.
Wow! I can't believe I forgot those! =)aldel wrote: Office Space
Fearless
Shakespeare in Love
I'm borderline on these two. I like them, but they both have some pacing issues.aldel wrote: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Minority Report
I haven't seen these. Except for Birdy, I've heard that they're all very good. I've never heard of Birdy.aldel wrote: Real Genius
Birdy
Spirited Away
Amelie

Unfortunately I haven't seen a great many foreign films.punisher wrote: Motorcycle Diaries
Leolo
Cinema Paradiso
Il Postino
The Seven Samurai
But JSA was a fantastic Korean film and it made my list.
I saw Motorcycle Diaries after having read the book. It was good, but it didn't "WoW" me so to speak. ;)
I've been thinking about adding "Run Lola, Run!"
I added Life is Beautiful on there.
I completely forgot to include the Brazilian film "City of God." It's great!
I thought about putting Clerks or Chasing Amy in there. I'm still thinking about it.Phoenix Red wrote: Dogma
Big Trouble (I know people hate Tim Allen but this is really funny)
Kingdom of Heaven
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
I'm not anti-Tim Allen. If he makes an amazing movie, I'll be happy to add it. ;)
I've never seen Kindom of Heaven.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was good, but it wasn't as good as Snatch. I was back and forth on whether to put Snatch on the list.
I dunno.CDN_Merlin wrote:Grease
I'm sure once OPer sees The Graduate, it'll be added. =)Vertigo99 wrote:OP needs "The Graduate"
=) It's not goin on the list though.Prediablo wrote:apocalypse now! It's a damned good movie how ever you spell it.
The best war-related movie I can think of is Three Kings, but I seem to remember seeing a really good one a long time ago... or maybe it was a book... or maybe it was on Star Trek.
I've been thinking about putting Three Kings on the list. I haven't seen "Jarhead" yet either.
I haven't seen:Prediablo wrote: Last House on the Left
The Hills Have Eyes
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Day of the Dead (any zombie flick)
Hellraiser
Dead Alive
Last House on the Left
The Hills have Eyes
or Hellraiser
Texac Chainsaw Massacre is a classic, but I don't know if it's up to everyone's taste. It has some great suspense but then it gets kind of boring when the Chainsaw guy starts chopping people up ;)
I added "Shaun of the Dead." Are you happy? =)Day of the Dead (any zombie flick)
Mowing down people with a lawn mower and seeing someone eat her own ear out of a bowl of oatmeal has it's place. DeadAlive certainly isn't for everyone. =)

Dungeons and Dragons
Battlefield Earth: A Saga of Year 3000
Gigli
Son of the Mask
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
From Justin to Kelly
3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain
I haven't seen any of those movies. =)
Although I did play Street fighter, Dungeons & Dragons, and Mortal Combat. I even saw the original "Three Ninjas" in a sneak preview before it was officially released and they changed some of the scenes for the final version. I also saw the original "The Mask" with Jim Carrey.
Ouch! It's still not coming off the list. That one's a permanent fixture. =)2001 a Space oddesey was lame in my opinion.
"Saving Private Ryan" is not going on the list.snoopy wrote:Saving Private Ryan
Sting, The
I need to see "The Sting."
Ah. Good call on Boondock Saints!Couver_ wrote: Lock stock and two smoking barrels
and of course Bonndock Saints!!
Nope. Sorry man. =/HaAGen DaZS wrote:No Monty Python??!
Crash was amazing, I loved it. Real instense. Another vote for that one.Flabby Chick wrote:Caught the movie "Crash" on dvd the other day. Excellent film...in my flabby opinion of course.

And this one is another necessityHaAGen DaZS wrote:Anchorman.
But yea when you make a list of good "something" then the first thing people do is tell you what is wrong with it and what to add or take away. I've got to say this list seems pretty reliable, and very good. Excellent post, I'll be referring to this.

I haven't seen Scarface or Goodfellas. Road to Perdition felt kind of fake to me. It was pretty good, but I don't think it's good enough to make the list.Money! wrote:Ouch on Anchorman haha, thanks though for the other ones. What about that Tom Hanks movie, the Road to Perdition? I remember that as being pretty good. As well as Scarface and Goodfellas
Actually, you'll be hard pressed to find a movie I don't enjoy. Anchorman was one of them. Flubber is another. But I'll watch almost anything. I'm ordinarily a big Will Ferrel fan.
decent list... can't say i agree with all of it, but i have seen pretty much everything on it, and would say they are all pretty 'everyone friendly' and most i think are phenomonal... big ups on fight club (if you haven't read chuck pahlaniuk ... do it ... do it NOW!!!)...
i would recommend bruce almighty, even if i hate jim carrey.
man on fire , the bourne series (2 of 3 so far) , tarantino is great but prolly doesnt fit into the spirit of this list i would still suggest the kill bills, hate this other comedian too but liked 50 first dates, sky capt. and the world of tomorrow, there are a lot more but i can't think of them right now.

Yeah, Lord of the Rings is good.
heh It figures you would like 2001. ^_~ haha
I can't believe you have Apollo 13 on there, but don't have Apollo 11! ^_~
I thought Kingdom of Heaven was lame.
Crouching Tiger was booty.
Some of my favorites are:
Guyver: Dark Hero
Mortal Kombat
Project A-ko series
The Matrix trilogy
just about any James Bond movie
Return of the Jedi

You know, I never thought I'd see something worse than 10.5.....till I watched that tripe. That was just mindnumbingly stupid. "Heat Islands" lmfao Maybe these morons should atleast take a physics class before writing another disaster movie. Then atleast they might know what the hell they're writing about.Junebug_returned wrote:Category 7: End of the World (only if you did like it.. )
I swear, if any Hollywood producer ever had the audacity to make a new version of To Kill a Mockingbird, I'd personally fly out there and rip their balls off. That is, if Gregory Peck hadn't risen from the dead and beaten me to it.HaAGen DaZS wrote:To Kill A Mockingbird... odd movie. can't really remember it atm. Could be one for a remake imo!
Fargo was incredible. Buscemi is a freaking god.[]V[]essenjah wrote:Fargo? Ok.......
That was seriously the dumbest and ickiest movie I ever watched. :
I didn't get it? Was it supposed to be funny or seriouse or just gross? I seriously didn't get it? Neither did anyone else in my family that watched it...
