I'm happy for you that got presents. I'm not against giving of presents at Christmas or any other time of the year.
Won't rant over my personal views... We have seemed to lost the meaning of what Christmas means in the last 20 years or so.
Enjoy the presents... But also enjoy time with your families.
---
All I got for Christmas for the last 8 years can be stated as follows: (Between the arrows below.)
--> <--
That's right... absolutely nothing.
What I've wanted for Christmas the last 8 years hasn't come true but I'll wish for the same thing for NEXT Christmas: My child home for Christmas.
She is still alive and will turn 12 next St. Patrick's day.
I won't go into the details... let's just say the Judge made a very very poor decision and gave the wrong parent full custody of our precious child.
Life goes on... And so will I!
Sigh!
I've not given up hope and will press on... When I can the matter will get more focus... Let's hope that a new Judge will see things with a lot more perspective than the last one and will do the "right thing".

I spent time with the family. I'm sure most did. From where'd you think the presents came?Testiculese wrote:Dinner

I could care less about Christmas, I'm not religious, I'm in it for the booty and free home-cooked dinner from the parents!
(You still dont' have custody? I thought you did by now. Good luck, and fight on!)
While not exactly mirroring SirWinner's dark view, I do agree that Christmas should be more about family than the presents. Since I am not very religous, Christmas to me has always been about spending time with family. The presents are just icing on the cake.
Good luck with your daughter SirWinner. As a parent myself, I can empathize.

Re:
Nothing.
My family has decided that for anyone over the age of 18 the misery of Christmas shopping greatly outweighs the joy of giving. Not having to shop, wrap and ship gifts was the best gift we could give each other. It worked so well we are never going to exchange gifts again.
My young nephews and grandson got tons of stuff though. Not giving kids Christmas gifts is just plain mean.

dag, Sting, you make it sound so interesting! =) Well, let me be the first to say, "thanks." ^_^Sting_Ray wrote:I was stuck on post for christmas, 3200 miles away from home. My christmas present to you americans is being ready to deploy in 18 hours to kick some foreign country's a$s if they mess with the US.
It does make for a depressing christmas though.
w00t! L00t! This thread is A-OK! ^_~
Okay, this is what I got for Christmas:
A cool-looking winter coat
A nice, dressy-casual shirt
A dashboard light that plugs into the ciga-weed lighta! (actually it's just a [broken] 12 V socket, my dashboard lights don't work haha)
An air freshener for my car
Burnout Revenge (XBOX)
A nice tie (for my first day of work! ^_^)
and 2 gift certificates, $50 + $40 to Best Buy. ^_^
and a second XB controller.
Unfortunately, I needed a new mouse...I wanted to get a game instead. =( dang! So I spent more money on this computer. >_< And I got:
A Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
Aeon Flux (the series) on DVD
Revenge of the Ninja on DVD
w00t!
IMHO, Christmas should be more about Christ instead of gifts or family. And it's always better to give than to receive! ^_^ Even if you don't care, that's what it's all about. I actually have my own theory on Christmas...I don't think it was a religious or Christian holiday to begin with. My theory involves the words 'Catholicism' and 'materialism' (Yeah, I'm sure you can imagine =P ^_~)
Regardless, ya gotta admit for us "merrykahnz" it sure is fun to get gifts on xmas!
What would Jesus get for Xmas? Well, in the words of the Deus Ex Machina in The Matrix Revolutions, "We don't need you! We need nothing!!!" ^_~
