From the placebo:
\"We have a lot to learn about what is happening here, Benedetti says, but one thing is clear: the mind can affect the body's biochemistry. \"The relationship between expectation and therapeutic outcome is a wonderful model to understand mind-body interaction,\" he says.\"

That's the basis of faith-healing. You mind expects it, so it does it. Generally, people who are told they are going to heal via a god, or are told they will pull through after a surgury (And keep that mind-set) do. Those who are hospitalized and lose all hope usually die.

You cam make yourself sick by thinking you are. Actual physical pain...from nothing.

Yup - there's a lot of stuff we don't yet know. Each item reduced to a few paragraphs doesn't really help either.

The important thing is that these days we know what we don't know - if you know what I mean. In times past, we didn't know what we didn't know - and in fact, didn't even know to ask the questions about the things we didn't know - y'know?

What is pretty certain, is that these questions (apart from Hoeopathy - what is that religion doing listed there?) will be answered in the future, by inquisitive human minds.

If you aren't going to read the linked article, don't bother replying.

That's how things like voodoo curses are supposed to work. If you think you've been cursed, your mind can find some way to manifest the curse into reality. Of course, a big prerequisite here for this to work is for your victim to actually believe in curses.

It's true! Apparently, you're even able to freeze yourself to death in normal temperatures.

Hoeopathy? Sure, they say that laughter is the best medicine, but I didn't know THAT could help you...

Reminds me of "The Cubicle" story about those young women faking the experiences to hang all these people. (Was it actually all young women? I don't remember much in the history of Salem).
