loved this .
I thought it was mostly directed at the journalists, everyone knows the problems the president has, but journalism is in a sorry state too but who's job is it to abuse them?
Watch the journos cringe
ahhh, always nice to see someone biting the hand that feeds it.
I lost some appreciation & respect for Stephen Colbert with his comments in the beginning. Sure there were some funny parts, but I still think regardless you can keep the humor & not be rude about it. It looked like he was testing the waters to see how much he could get his feet wet.
I don't think he just looked how far he could get. Do you really think he was just joking? This man is deeply upset and angered about Bush, his administration and the role of the media in the events in the U.S. in the past 7 or 8 years. Actually he is taking the entire audience right on, and has no respect for them - for good reason, imho.
The whole point of the dinner is to rip into the president in a humorous way. He didn't do it \"just to see how far he could get\" (Sam) OR because he is \"deeply upset and angered about Bush\" (Diedel). He did it because it's what you're supposed to do at the aforementioned dinner.
If he was \"deeply upset and angered\" he wouldn't have been invited to speak, and I'm pretty sure he knew his limits and didn't cross them.
