Well its about a 4 star out of 5 its like a easy to use Adobe Photoshop its layed out more user friendly you can add shadows bevel glow those kind of things alot faster and easier. You can edit your shadow intensity and softness alot faster and easier. I like it for doing simple logos and then when I want to do real detail and harder stuff I go to Photoshop. I like it though. I 'found' it and really liked it when I installed it.
texture maps mostly.
1. make a basic pic in illustrator
2. make it dirty in photoshop
3. stick it on a 3d object.
But as for great art in illustrator... nothing i make there seems to stay in that program. I normally have to bring things into it or export stuff back and forth between other programs. link me your illustrator work

intresting, im not really that great at animation or 3D yet im trying to get to know it better and to know how to do it. Ive been reading some tutorials etc. What programs would I need to do some good 3D and do you recommend some learning sites or something?

I would start out with the big 3... lightwave, maya, OR 3dstudio max. There are many others out there worth trying like xsi (i think..) because they're mostly the same. Most companies ask for maya or 3d studio max. If you know 3d max you can learn maya faster... or vis versa. Get good at one. You'll have an easier time learning the rest. zbrush [clay modeling style 3d app] is important to learn but i'd leave it alone until you get good at vertex modeling. I'm leaving zbrush till i master 3dstudio max. I've seen demonstrations of it and don't think it will be a huge challenge to get good at, but 3d max and maya will (assuming 3d max doesn't buy zburush as well) .
Darktalyn1 ! if you're reading this you should comment.
But the most important thing i've learned is to sketch everything before starting a 3d file. Your 3d models should look more realistic than your drawings, but it takes less time to sketch something out.

Game Industry wise it's Maya, Max, and XSI (to a lesser degree). I'm pretty sure I heard Max is the most common but at my job we use Maya. Also, Autodesk recently bought Alias so take that into consideration - They say they will continue to support both packages but Maya might end up going the way of the dino.
If you're interested in learning a 3d sculpting program I'd wait for Mudbox over Zbrush. I've been hearing great things about it & know people on the beta list; it looks to be worth the wait! It should be coming out some time this year.

Eagle, I have that pyro in my D3, I took a screenshot of it feom behind in level 4 single player(subway) looking down the tunnel. I then ordered a mouse pad that is 11x17 with that pic on it.

I love it. Thanks again.

Hey Merlin, do you have a shot of that mousepad?
I wonder if someone else did some 3D work with the pyro .. Actually I nevery really finished it 100% there are still a couple things I always wanted to add/change/enhance... but oh well I guess it's neat that way Took me long enough to make it..

Your model lives in D2X-XL as well!

oh my god
.. this is just too awesome! I didn't know it looked that cool in game.
I heard that people were using the model in D3 and actually in some other games too for modding, I just wonder which ones... this is so cool I think I have to start playing D3 and do graphics again.
