Not only that.... but I don't recall Mario running that fast. The actual time was like 10:53.

In Mario 3, yes Mario can run that fast and make those jumps. It just probably took twenty or thirty tries for some of them, so that 10:53 was probably more like days and days of replaying sections in slo-mo to get the fastest times before putting it all together.

Foil is right, you can run that fast on Mario 3, but it's imposible to play the entire game like that, and it's also imposible to jump that prefectly.
Also, if you pay attention, on minute 3:51 you can see a Boomerang of the Boomerang brother passing though mario and mario didn't take any damage...

These runs do exploit bugs in the game. Mario 3 does have a wall jumping glitch and there are some completely legitimate tricks (read: bugs) a very skilled gamer can use.

Now, here's something of an anti speedrun that I found HILARIOUS. Sometimes those glitches really don't work in your favor.

Ok, that was ★■◆●ing hilarious. I normally don't watch most youtube videos, because most of the hilarious ones just.. aren't... but WOW. I laughed so hard. And maybe it was helped by the fact that I had a bit of mario nostalgia myself recently and bought a nintendo DS with the new mario and 3 mario advance games... heh...
