My sister was telling me her boyfriend told her that for the PS2 version of FF11, not only do you have to pay the monthly fee to play online but you also have to pay for each patch and/or update (whatever you wan't to call it) and if you wanted more characters you have to pay for each one, is this true?
That's extremely lame if they did, but I kind of doubt it, that sounds ridiculous. Nobody would play it and I really haven't read much on it since I don't have a PS2, but already I don't want to pay a monthly fee to play online if I got the PC version anyways.

They're called content id's. and yes, you have to pay for each.
J, if you got J K L M N O P Q, you'd get a happy egg, which is HP+1%, and VIT+1, which is a pretty decent prize. Everything else obtained from the moogles for the event sucked, but selling them was pretty lucrative. Early on, A eggs were selling for 10k each.
And no, you shouldn't have to be paying for each patch. The PC version definately doesn't make you pay for each patch. That'd be just plain lame and no one would play it anymore.

Why is soloing WHM so hard? I didn't have this much of a problem with my BLM? I even have a kewl sheild as a WHM. It is either risk my life soloing on Easy Prey or get into a newb party in the dunes and die there. Choices...
Poor Warlock isn't having much luck either, I'm constanlty having to come save him

I'm starting to get bored myself. It is just endless crap. Find item A for person A and get item B, sell item B for gil.Tetrad wrote:While I said earlier that I thought FFXI was a good game, I got bored with it before the free month was up. Being forced to party to get any reasonable amount of experience, plus the very, very heavy treadmilling aspect just did it in for me.
But I guess it was fun while it lasted.
The game makes it way to hard/time consuming to solo and I dont feel I'm making any progress. I don't like depending on others to progress though the game, when half the people have no clue what they are doing. One bad PT could be a days worth of progress down the drain.
Bleh. I'll give it a bit longer but I don't think I will be playing for too much more. Too much repitition. Guess I'm not a MMORPG kinda gamer.

Yap, you can't solo your way through this game guys.
You have to party.
Warlock, try getting a party in korroloka tunnel. May be better than the dunes.
Parties in the dunes can be extremely good, or horribly horrible.
And J, WHM's have very little offensive capabilities. You can't really solo them.
Very few jobs will solo well past 10-15. You just can't make the xp alone that you can with a party.
You guys also picked a bad time to start out. The release of the PS2 version brought an influx of n00bs who just dont' have a clue. Had you been on my server I coulda helped ya out... Oh well =\
