Oh, I'm sure they will take your money. But you could help the company and a lot of other people by taking the time to help update their compatibility database by testing and providing information on those applications that you have at hand.

Did you take a look at the \"Choosing the right Wine-based solution\" on this page:

http://www.codeweavers.com/products/differences/

At any rate, that's CodeWeavers' take on it.

Actually nothing. On the contrary. Maybe it has some more success running programs now, but as Linux user you should just stay away from binary programs if you can. If you update your system somehow, binary programs will be the first (measured onn how the program is linked and what the deps are) stop working.
You'll never get this problem with WINE.

If you continue to support WINE and report problems and inconsitencies running programs on it, you get the same functionality with WINE in a long run - and WINE is always free code.

CEDEGA once was much better running games than WINE was. However just after 3 years the OpenSource concept of WINE gave it a big jump while the ClosedSource concept of CEDEGA still makes it closed for the community and it keeps sucking more and more each day (my opinion based on my licensed versions of CEDEGA in the past 3 years).

Yeah, Cedega is based on a very old Wine since they can't rip any code from
the newer, LGPL-licensed versions. I'd say let them die; Wine has gone a long
way since then and can now run many games with few or no problems.

As for Codeweavers - they rely on Wine and are funding development of it.
