Basically...WTF? A genuine...WTF!?
A mysterious light display appearing over Norway last night has left thousands of residents in the north of the country baffled.
Witnesses from Trøndelag to Finnmark compared the amazing sight to anything from a Russian rocket to a meteor or a shock wave - although no one appears to have mentioned UFOs yet.
The phenomenon began when what appeared to be a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain. It stopped mid-air, then began to circulate.

Does look like a missile gone haywire in the videos. What baffles me is the picture above, that's not a casual shot -- this kind of pic requires carefull setup (tripod & exposure testing.) Someone may have been out & about to take long exposure shots when that happened, but it captures the whole event -- given the rest in the pic (boring subject, pic frames the event perfect) it seems very unlikely that this pic was taken \"by accident\".

Most rational theory yet:

Definitely an object in space, but most likely a shoddy Russian piece of junk.

Maybe we should ask the Russians if it fell out of orbit or something. \"Hey, I think you dropped something. Were you tracking it, right?\" Screw the political meetings and time wasters that are likely to happen, get the prime minister on the cell and ask him \"Wazzzzaaaaaapppp?!?\"
An out of control missile seems a little far fetched. If it was out of fuel, where is the blue vapor coming from? Plus what the fudge is that spirally thing? Is that a real photo?
Something just doesn't seem right about any of the speculations.
In the mean time, I will put my money on a bad case of swamp-gas. I might go aliens, but I wouldn't bet on that.

Apparently, it was just a rocketthat went out of control.

It's never good to wake up in the shrubs naked, you either got way too drunk, or your azz is a werewolf.

It's not unusual for a rocket to go out of control and tumble like that. Once a rocket starts tumbling it's all over but the crying.PJB wrote:Freakily the missile somehow ended up spinning on it's axis. The chances of that happening are pretty low, but hey, everything can and does happen.

Interesting, Pandora. Those \"street views\" are multiple pics stitched together, which is why that particular \"WTF\" looks like it's \"cut off\" on two edges. I'd guess that it's smoke from something that passed while that part of the image was being taken. Truck exhaust, maybe?
Edit: That same thing appears if you navigate to the next two points to the southwest (left arrow when looking toward it). That tells me it's something stuck on the camera. I'm now guessing it's a piece of a branch from the low-hanging pine trees on that street.

It's a twig sitting on the camera apparatus.
Scroll down the street a couple clicks to see it in front of a power pole. It's obviously quite close to the camera.
