Roasting by the pool...

Post by Gekko71 »

Had to share this one - thought it was funny as hell

A Las Vegas hotel is acidentally cooking guests alive as they lie by the pool - turns out the hotel's exterior is one giant parabolic mirror.

Yeah that was a real epic win, especially since they started frying lawyers. :P

I heard about this on the news this morning, as if we didn't have enough things to worry about; your neighbor's windows can do the same to your house.

I was placing brick pavers in an outdoor bowl shaped seating area for an Government Tech Center on a really hot day that had a curved glass wall feature like that hotel in Vegas, that caused pretty well the same thing. Health and safety had to close down the job-site because after a few workers fainted from heatstroke, someone measured 135 F + in the bowl on a 100 F day. It was literally like working in Death Valley. The concrete would get to almost 200 F at high noon in spots and we were literally frying eggs on the curbs. We had to come at night to finish the work. The area still remains closed year round.

Only the government would pay to have a job completed even after the site was closed.
It's never good to wake up in the shrubs naked, you either got way too drunk, or your azz is a werewolf.

heh. world's largest solar pit bbq?? might as well do something useful with it.

oh, and what part of \"unexpected\" is it that the designers of this hotel don't expect the sun to reflect off of their shiny building.

Did you think that one through?

"hmm, we fully expect the sun to radiate off this and cook our customers. Yes..."

If you build what is essentially a giant parabolic mirror, damn straight you should see this coming. Must have been one winner of an architectural firm that designed it.
