I'm currently working on a 16+3 level set for Descent 1 called 'Nefarious Assault', It'll feature robot sound replacements (mostly from Descent 2), custom textures for each level (within each .DTX files for Rebirth, and within the 'mods\\nefarius\\textures\\levelxx' directory for XL), and perhaps new soundtrack.
(note: In rebirth, try playing the Mission with NO cockpit)

Okay, I've decided to release a 8+1 levels demo version of Nefarious Assault

I really like it, the levels are well built, and I especially enjoyed the new ones (level 6 in particular was nice with the hell falcon). I hadn't played Seraph Mine before either, and I was pretty impressed with it, seeing as (I think) it was made a while before even Dragon Pit Outpost.
But I have one minor point of criticism:
The class 1 drone's \"Rawr\" noise gets really grating really fast. You might want to change it to a less obtrusive noise than the Omega Defense Spawn (which was a far rarer robot to face than the class 1 drone ).
Also what kind of music will you have in the final version (midi, ogg... what genre, is it from another game, y'know that kind of stuff)? Just curious. (You don't technically need midi for D1 missions anymore, since D1X-Rebirth now supports ogg soundtracks inside hog files).
