Top favorite real life jet fighters

Post by Sapphire Wolf »

What are your top favorite real (NOT fictional) jet fighters that you think they look cool.

As for me I like these following jets:
1. F-15 Eagle
2. F/A-18 Hornet
3. A-10 Warthog
4. F-14 Tomcat
5. F-117 Nighthawk

EDIT: I forgot which Russian MIGs that I like.

I would say F-117, but it's not actually a fighter, it's a bomber that required fighter pilots to operate.

I like the look of F-22 Raptor, F-5 Tiger (painted black and called the "MiG 29" in Top Gun), the Harrier, and the Kfir (an Israeli variant of the Mirage 5.)

I loved the F-16 for a long time. I'm surprised that it isn't on anyone's list. It's just sleek and speedy looking.

Don't forget the Russians here: Recent MiGs and Sukhoi fighters are damn impressive and sometimes outright superior in various ways to their American counterparts.

P 51, fighter that turned the war around in WWII.
P 47 Jug, flying tank
F16 an aircraft that has the capability to pull more G's than any pilot can endure.
FD18 Super Hornet, just a sweet multipurpose aircraft
F4 Heavy, slow turning dragster. Damn fast plane

I don't know that I really have any favorites, I like 'em all. I liked the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle a lot when I was younger, and the North American F-86 Sabre and Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 are nice examples of the early jet fighters. Here's some obscure jet fighters that I like:

Saunders-Roe SR.A/1, a jet flying-boat fighter.

North American F-107 Ultra Sabre

The Lockheed YF-12, the interceptor version of the A-12 (SR-71 Blackbird).

The Republic F-103 Thunderwarrior and North American F-108 Rapier would have been interesting if they had been built.

I thought the topic was jet fighters. half the planes mentioned either aren't jets or aren't fighters

I'm surprised, too.

I've glued more F-16s than any other model plane. It must be my favorite. There's something simple and elegant about it. The F-22 also has that elegant look, with much cooler toys.

The interesting thing is, there's said to be a Chinese counter plain to the F-22, called the J-20.

What I find interesting is that it looks alot like Boeing's x-plane, x-32, that was competing for a contract against Lockheed Martin, which was beat by what's known as the F-22. It's like a hybrid between the two. edit: or not... on a second glance, it looks nothing like the x-32...

We had Marine Harriers on our boat, so i like them the best. watching them land and take off all the time from the flight deck distracted me a lot because of how awesome it was. wanted to ride in one for my birthday but they were one seaters =] so i went on the LCAC.

other then that i liked the german Me 262.
