Fixing other people's lag problems?
So I was playing in the BOZ server (they shoot missiles now, oh my) and Markus was playing. He let me know that I was skipping in....less than pleasant ways and was threatening a ban.
I am not sure if I really am skipping since everything else around me seemed smooth to me. I'm over here in America so my ping was around 170 and Markus's was at 60-70. Is there any way to fix my skipping?

Re: Fixing other people's lag problems?
"Skipping" in D3 isn't a sign of lag (latency), so don't look too much at ping. It is a sign of intermittent traffic (could be loss, could be some bad 'bursting' in packet transmission).
In my experience hosting and playing D3:
95% of the time, it's because the player is using wireless, and the other 5% is typically due to limited bandwidth or poor connection. Are either one of those the case for you?
[Edit: Also check your network setting in the D3 launcher. Make sure it's at "T1" (12 packets/second) unless you're on dial-up.]

T1 is selected. Wired connection on my end. Highspeed internet. Nothing else is/was using my bandwith.

Probably something between you and the server, then. From here to Germany, it's not hard to imagine some traffic issues.

P.S. I'm not sure Markus has admin powers on the BOZ servers. If he does, and there's a ban, I'd suggest talking to Do_Checkor over at ServerOps.

I don't think Markus has powers either. He mentioned something about Chekor and banning, but I was busy igoring him.
I'll just wait and see what happens. Seems like there is nothing that I can do.

Lol @ Markus then.
Rule of thumb if you want to have friends: don't threaten people about something they can't control.
And give them the benefit of the doubt when they tell you they can't control it.
And I've had great 1 on 1 games where my opponent was really skippy.

I wouldn't take it to heart, I've had euro players act clueless to the fact i'm in america when getting POed at me for having 170-220 ms, stating obvious things like i lag and such, just pay them no mind, Markus is known to lash out at people.

Markus complains about everything. He complains about your ship, he complains about your lag, he complains about his lag, he complains about microwave, he complains about the geopolitical implications of non-intervention in the Georgian conflict...NUMBERZero wrote:Markus was playing. I wouldn't go to great pains to placate Markus.
