For those saying Calgary should've had that goal in game 6...
I was pulling for Calgary, but I don't think it was a goal. It looked like it was in the air, and from the shot where it appeared to be completely across the goal line, once you realize that it was several inches above the ground, it no longer looks like a goal. If it's a few inches up in the air, and it looks like it's barely over the line from an angle, that means that from straight above it won't look like it's over the line.

Me? No, that's not what I meant at all. I just meant that a lot of US people, myself included, were rooting for the Flames; in that respect, the refs were more pro-Florida alone than pro-entire US. I know what you meant, though, and this is another one of those times that I should have kept my foot in my big mouth. I did not mean any disrespect to you or to anyone. I'm just not the biggest fan of Florida, especially after what they keep doing to my Philly teams .
I'm glad TB won, because Andreychuck(sp?) was having the time of his life (they showed the aftermath on sportscenter, i don't watch hockey). It's always nice to see players who have battled for 20 years finally win one. I feel bad for them though because they will always have that asterisk by the win from hockey fans all over the world that thought that the final score was 3-2 calgary in game 6, not 3-2 Tampa Bay. Talk about a death blow to calgary too. They won it and got it snatched away. Not surprised at all they didn't have it in game 7 after that. I saw it over and over again on sprtscenter and i thought it was a goal, and so did a ton of experts, so i can't argue with them. congrats all the same though.

remember the cleveland browns beer bottle throwing incident? the refs reviewed a play 2 plays after the play in question, and it ended up being ruled against the browns and we lost the game. rule clearly states the review must take place before the next play is run. then the refs lost control and ended the game with like 2 minutes still left because they lost control. bastard refs.
Whats all this Pro-US vs Pro-CAN BS? Last I checked all the hockey teams still played for the NHL correct? Quit your belly-aching. Before you accuse me of being a Florida lover I couldn't give two-shits about Florida or Hockey in general. It just pisses me off to see someone sitting there trying to ★■◆● about something and turn it into something it isn't.
We all love to jump all over the officials and cry conspiracy everytime games of any sport don't go the way we want them to but after a while it just gets plain silly. Yes, the officials suck, we can all agree on that, but they suck because they're human. To even claim it was a Pro-US/Pro-CAN issue....

Vader, consider yourself lucky. My team came within a tiebreaker of missing the playoffs due to some pro-laker refs (they did make it, but *barely*). The refs actually stole a game near the end of the season -- "oh, well, Kobe goaltended on that 3 which should give the Nuggets a 5 point lead, or maybe Kobe didn't touch it and it just bounced off the iron into Carmelo's hands where he could have an easy putback for a 4 point lead with 10 seconds to go, but we're going to blow the whistle for no reason..." The inadvertent whistle led to a jump ball, which the Lakers stole on the way up, and then they hit the winning 3 as the clock expired. Ugh.
anti lakers?!
i saw shaq cook and eat a grilled cheese sandwich in the lane on three separate occasions in the 3rd quarter of game 6 of the western conference finals. no... seriously. fatass.
*edited to include the arguably funny part*

you're just biased because you're from minnesota. i get the same way when the browns get owned by the refs. remember the beer bottle incident? that was a direct violation of the rules on 2 accounts by the refs, but ★■◆● happens. i watched every game so far and have seen plenty of bad calls, but its always more anti-shaq than anything. there were 2 bad ones against kg early in game 6 that hurt them pretty bad, but did you not see the three horrible ones later in the game? one where shaq just slid his feet toward the guy and put his hands up and got called for his 5th? is scaring a smaller player a foul now? malone got called for a pretty cheesy one too. he moved out of the guys way when he was trying to post up (pulled the chair out from under him) and he fell, and got a foul call. he moved away from the guy and he fell, foul? havent you ever seen people beat the hell out of shaq and not get called for it? its becuase he's so big that he doesn't get jarred by light hits, but they are still fouls. it takes quite a whack to put shaq down, and he doesn't flop, so he doesn't get calls that a tim duncan or a rasheed wallace will.
i'm not a lakers fan by any means, i'm a cavs fan. my unbiased opinion is that people foul shaq ALOT more than fouls are actually called, and he can barely play defense sometimes because he can't look at a guy funny without getting one. people just hate the lakers because they are the lakers, and the yankees because they are the yankees. they beat your team, deal with it without slanting something your way. its been said many times by the league regarding the subject that shaq is the hardest guy in the history of the NBA to officiate, and as a result you get the lakers getting screwed more on average than other teams.

As has been indicated by other posts in this thread, I didn't have to watch all 7 games Merlin. It happens in all sports and is almost just as much a part of the game as the game itself. The refs do the best job that they can even though they suck ass in all sports as I mentioned above.
I do believe there is more going on with the refs then meets the eye of course. Shaq gets special treatment by the refs because there is nobody else like him in the NBA and there are certain people who want to see him put up huge numbers. Barry Bonds doesn't get the strike 3 calls unless he swings to strike out (Which happens almost never) so he has a better chance to hit a home run in the MLB.
It's all controlled management of the HUGE star players to generate more interest in the sports. It also works the other way to the people who feel shafted because now they absolutely have to watch the next season to see what happens next. After all these upsets and frustrations in sports for some reason we all STILL watch. The only thing that seems to be a deterrent is a strike, but then again most people watch after the strike because they're sports fans.
Your team is not the first to be shafted nor the last to be shafted. My point was you blew the whole thing out of proportion by making it a Pro-US vs. Pro-CAN thing when both teams play for the same damn league.
