hello,
i was wondering if any of you had a definitive lyric sheet for the song "YYZ". i googled the lyrics but there seems to be a discrepancy...

"i'm gonna exhume the bones of our love."

i don't recall those words.

Yep, it's from Moving Pictures, but it's the 3rd track out of 7.

I'm not a Rush fanatic, but I do like their music a heck of a lot. Their best period IMO is their work from the early 70's until the late 80's. The 70's were great for epic prog rock, and the 80's were great for synth prog. Their 90's work cut the epic works and synths, so they sounded too much like any other heavy rock band to my tastes.

The rhythm on the triangle is "YYZ" in Morse code. It is also the code of Toronto International Airport, their home town.

My favorite is 2112. Incendentally, if anyone has ever been intrugued by the story told through the songs on 2112, the novelette Anthem by philosopher/author Ayn Rand is a must-read. The album's concept leans heavily on that book, written back in the '30's.

Agreed. Anything up through Permanant Waves does it for me. You can never go wrong with All the World's a Stage or Exit Stage Left. I think they sound better live than they do in the studio.

As for YYZ... it's one of the many Rush ringtones I have on my cell phone. (Currently set to Temples of Syrinx).

Actually, I'd argue in general that anything Ayn Rand has written is worth reading, not just for those who are interested in the background of 2112.

Entre Nous is one of those secret gems that nobody knows about. Alex pulls off cool chords in that one.

If anyone missed the R30 tour this time around (which was the best tour ever, I caught both shows in the Bay Area), be sure to pick up the Rush in Rio DVD here, which is the next best thing. They played a set of concerts in Brazil to their largest crowds ever. In the version of YYZ, the crowd does sing it, although the words are anybody's guess.

I don't know if there's ever been a band that's been around for 30 years that hasn't turned into a mockery of itself. Rush is still around, "quietly" playing huge arena tours with no supporting act, and rock more than ever. These guys are Midas to me, I like every one of their studio CDs.

Yes, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Petra, and ZZ Top come to mind as ones that are still good.
