What is your favorite game?
Okie, time for the lame time honored thread on your favorite game. It can be any genre, and no it doesn't have to be Descent!
My favorite game would be Chrono Trigger. Out of all the games I play I always come back to this one because it has so many endings and combinations of characters to create some unique game play. And it is short enough to not drag on like some games do.

For singleplayer, the Freespace series. Intense, pulse-pounding gameplay, a great and twisting storyline, and, in my opinion, the singularly most frightening enemy of humanity in all of sci-fi. For multiplayer...well, I'm sure you can guess. For the non-action type of game, I'd have to say the Myst series; mind-bending puzzles, stunningly beautiful scenery, and intriguing plots all combine to make these games some of the best ever made. Plus, it's the only game series I've seen where the novels are actually good literature in their own right.
P.S. For something on the funnier side, I'd highly recommend Starship Titanic by the late, great Douglas Adams. It's chock-full of Hitchhiker's-type humor. The best part about this game, though, is the robots; you can chat with them by typing in messages, and they'll respond accordingly. Don't think it's all scripted, though; the game featured 16 hours of dialogue, amounting to about 10,000 lines. This thing doesn't get boring.

Hmm... even after however many years, it still has to be Descent 2... I still haven't found anything that you can do so much cool stuff with and really plays pretty nicely as well.
I mean yes, you can do a little more with modern hyper-moddable FPS games, but they still aren't so good at pulling off the rather unique freeform flying-object gameplay.
Half-Life 2 may change that, if it's all it's cracked up to be. Awaiting that one with interest...
Descent 3 -would- steal version 2's crown, except for a couple little problems; its dynamic didn't seem to work quite as smoothly, and it's also very, very tiring to do anything substantial for. It was capable of some pretty nice things, after all that.

Singleplayer: Probably the Grand Theft Auto series from 3 to San Andreas. Just so much you can do and so many ways to create havoc. There are some other games I'd probably list in with this catagory such as Need for Speed Underground and perhaps the Silent Hill series (all 4 games) but...*shrug*.
Multiplayer: Descent 1 & 2. Starcraft. Diablo II: LOD pre1.10. BF1942 & then perhaps Descent 3.

I'm going to have to go with Sonic 3 & Knuckles, for the SEGA Genesis. I absolutely love that game. First videogame I ever played too.
For Multiplayer I'm going to have to say the Battlefield games. All of them. They are just so awesome. Easy to play too.
I've been playing alot of Battlefield Vietnam with the Point of Existence mod.
But good ole' Descent will always be in my Top 10 list. The first 3D game I ever played.

V:TM is a 25 year old pen-and-paper RPG. Think dungeons and dragons.Vertigo 99 wrote:phoenix, i have no idea what the **** youre talking about.
vampire the masquerade is a cool new RPG game thats coming out soon that uses the HL2 engine
Except, it was live action. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at the grocery store, at work, in the bar, you were supposed to be in deep play ALWAYS.
This new computer version may or may ont be good in its own right, but my slavering hatred for White Wolf (the company/guy behind the atrocity) prevents me from unbiased opinion.

Hold 'Em, Kev? I've taken up poker lately too. Fun. My strategy: bet conservatively for the first three hours, and wait until everyone gets tired and makes mistakes.Sickone wrote:currently, if I get any free time at all...
I go to the casino, and play Poker. Lot's of fun, and generally I do pretty well.
With a casino about 12 miles away, it is a nice way to take my mind off work, etc.
Hmm my favorite is UT2004. For singleplayer, Multiplayer, Omniplayer, Ceiling player, and ____(Object)____player.
UT2004 is awesome. The editor is a pain in the ass but hey, i can work it ^_^ its much simpler becasue I got familiar with BSP based editing in Valve Hammer Editor (Halflife editor).
UT2004 pwns all y'all.

Hey ya Kai
yep, Hold'em is the game.
I prefer no limit, but the place near me only does one tourney a week like that. Playing live it is all limit 6-4, 4-8, or 6-12.
I have a lot of fun. When I play serious, I do very well. At least most of the time, since some days the cards are just dead... such is life.
I may be up in the Bay Area in 3 or 4 weeks. If so I will try and let you know ahead of time maybe we can get together.
Take care
