Can we say "save money and buy better CPU"?

They work now, but thanks for the offer MD. :)

When we talk about high performance CPUs you tell us to buy the cheap ass ones along with overclocking memory and overclock the ★■◆● out of them, but when we talk about overclocking memory you tell us to buy high performance CPUs. Make up your mind, damnit. :P

MSRP is 250$ for 2 x 512 kit

so 512 is around half of that, and considering MSRP it not really the realprice, usually you find things cheaper than MSRP ;) that is cheap for this kind of memory, i mean TCCD based ram is priced even higher.

matrix what u r getting is TCCD chips ;) they clock high at good timings.

Th ehwole point of this new ram is to do high fsb at 2-2-2-5-1T timings. So far only BH-5 could do it at some insane voltages. This RAM is warranted up to 3.5v.

As far as the mobos are concerned, well, not many do 3.2, but if you are a serious overclcoker, you already hvae an OCZ ddr booster, whch gives you like 4 volts or something. Also since ddr booster doesn't track VTT, there is a different product that just became avaialble that tracks VTT without any mods to the motherboard. ;)

So i am building my new PC sometime in January :D

matrix. i paid 350$ for my current pc4400 ram, so 250 msrp seemed cheap to me, lol

xciter, not sure, but from what OCZ guys r saying over at xtremesystems, is that these sticks should do 250-260 at 2-2-2-5-1t at about 3.3v-3.4v. They say anything higher doesn;t really improve overclocks, only generates more heat.

there is a big thread about it over at XS

yes, it is high, but, this ram won't even run good at lower voltages. OCZ designed it for enthusiast market only, who run their RAM at those voltages already anyway, only thing is this RAM,as they say was designed from the groud up to be ran at 3.2 and up.

They say the sweet spot is 3.3-3.4, but most motherboards don't have that high vdimm voltage, unless you either do a mod on the motherboard or flash some of the motherboards with a hacked BIOS.

But there is an easier way, i mentioned it earlier, to get an OCZ DDR booster, a little device that feeds more voltage into the dimm slots without any need for mods, only porblem is DDR booster doesn't track vtt, which is supposed to be half of vdimm voltage. There is another device that came out, that does both raise vdimm and track vtt, so your overclocks will be both impressive and stable.

Oh yeah, i don't know about this particular ram, but anything other over 3.0 volta you better put active cooling on it, a.k.a. mount a fan blowing on tha RAM.
