mommy... it is fast

Post by Sickone »

I have to admit, for an old goat like me, I am getting a fair thrill from my new ride.

As I near the end of break in (very interesting articles on the subject by the - since someone else was asking about that not too long ago i.e. easy vs hard break break in).

It is really nice felling to tap the gas and zoom right past some bozo on the freeway....

I will say the ride is a bit stiffer than I might have imagined I would want or like, but a completely fine trade off of the outstanding flatness and grip.

Going to my Mom and Dad's tomorrow (a few of my sibs are meeting me to surprise them) so I have about 350 miles of freeway each way.... "GET OUT OF MY WAY !!!!"

ahhhh to be an old guy with no class... I have arrived.

Man, nothing like the feeling of getting behind the wheel of a fine road car and taking a road trip. When I bought my BMW 3 series, I was never home. 27,000 miles on it the first year I had it. Good luck with that trip, Kev. I'm sure your new ride will keep a smile on your face. Just watch out for Mr. Popo. Cheers!

I had a car breakdown in Birmingham once and called my brother-in-law in Huntsville. He arrived screaming down the road in a Espirit turbo his friend had lent him. The ride home was unreal.

I see a speeding ticket (or three) in Kevin's future. :P Give yourself a treat and spring for a track day. As well as a blast, a few hours balls to the wall on a track is very educational as far as finding the limits of your car.

it's all about how low you care to have your comfort level, the elise is very bare bones, not any comfort features, however, for 90k you could get an esprit which is a little more comfortable

Iâ??ve gotten a chance to ride in BMW M3 one night to Chicago and back. Very nice ride and every thing but I didnâ??t realize how many people want to mess you at night especially on the expressway.

He lives in Portland, not sure where his dealer is, and he has been on the list for a few years. I have no idea when he is getting it though. He was always jealous of me because up until last July, I lived about 5 miles from Lotus North America in Atlanta.

Elise != Grand Tourer.
Elise = Teeny tiny sports car.

Road Trip with Elise means sending your baggage by aeroplane or bus.

Grand Tourer = Porsche 928, Mercedes 500SLK and that ilk.

Road Trip with Porsche 928 means driving 8 hours at 140mph and getting out fresher and more relaxed than when you got in...

I spoke with my friend this evening. He is getting his Elise in February. He is going to be giggling like a school girl until then. In the mean time, he is selling his Caterham 7 to make room in the stable.

What, he's selling the 7 to make room for the elise, bad choice, as good as the elise is, it is not as fun as the 7 on a track.

I am sure he has his reasons. He just finished restoring an Elan. http://unibrain.org/motorsports/
