How about this.
The only thing wrong with the bit was it came at the beginning of a program that aired at primetime during a show that no parents would have thought would open with something they may want to keep younger kids from watching.
The liberals always say "You should supervise what you let your children watch...you can just change the channel"...etc. etc.

Well we weren't expecting a football game to open with a horny housewife getting naked and throwing herself at a stranger and the stranger who is a role model of sorts decides to bail out on his team so he can get jiggy with the naked nympho! All that and it's portrayed as just good fun.

I was prepared to explain to my kids the finer points of the rules of football not the ups and downs of being a slut.

If you don't want us to react like puritans then don't act like pimps and whores without at least a little warning ummk?

Will, what time does Monday night football start?

I don't think my kids are watching TV then because its close to their bedtime. But being a part of the perpetual sport of soccer, we are at a Monday night training session until 8:30 on Mondays. 8:30 is usually bedtime for my 9 and 11 kids.

East coast, game time 9pm.
10 year olds bedtime usually 9pm. She gets straight A's so we let her stay up when she asks. I don't remember if she was on her way to bed or not but really how does one girls bed time fit into the larger issue?

If Monday night football is now R rated just let us know in advance OK? Or are we supposed to just expect slutty behavior to be a part of our everyday entertainment.

I think that R rated tv programming clearly starts at 9. Some of the programs that we watch at 9 like CSU and Law and Order are totally off limits to my kids.

I'm not making a point, but I think that MNF is unquestionably PG-13 with regard to its commercial content and probably R in this regard.

Get this, I let my son watch the Super Bowl unsupervised last year. My husband was travelling for work. I was in the other room puttering around, probably playin a puter game. It wasn't til the next day that I heard about JJ's boob flashing, so I'm definitely not in a position to point fingers.

Oh and congrats on the straight A 10yr old. I'm jealous!

As for Will; I haven't seen the commercial, so that's why I can't really argue for it. But how would you teach your girls that sex is a normal, healthy thing, but having excessive amounts of it (ie, being a slut) is not? It seems to me that to properly teach, both sides must be seen, in some aspect. it's just that it has to be made clear that one side is wrong.

There was no sex in the commercial just a naked slut and a man who had no self control. Their bad behavior was apparently approved entertainment fodder for a pre-game audience. Not at all the way one would expect that sort of behavior to be presented to children.

Sure, plenty of examples to go around if I had been planning on teaching my kid about bad behavior etc.
The problem is, I wasn't planning that at the time.

However, for the sake of a broadcasters need to pump up his advertising dollars I apparantly am expected to be prepared to explain their bad behavior at a moments notice instead of enjoy the game.

I think you would have to see the commercial to totally appreciate my point of view. I'm sure when I was single and had never really thought about raising children I wouldn't have thought much of it.

It's not how much skin we saw it's the behavior that was offered up as business as usual. It had nothing to do with the game and wasn't any kind of social commentary. It was just soft core porn on display as window dressing for a sports broadcast. Just because sex sells doesn't mean everything should be sold with sex or that every broadcast moment should be open for gratuitous sex if we can find a way to squeeze it in without technically showing the actual act!

Maybe next Monday night we'll be seeing the cheerleaders lined up in the tunnel leading to the field all drop to their knees so they can give the players some oral satisfaction before they hit the field?
As long as we don't actually see their mouths on the players genitals is it OK?
Hey, why stop there? Maybe the players can all rest their favorite sports drink on the bobbing heads of the cheerleaders while they do their thing...just pan the camera down far enough to show the product and the top of their heads but don't show any more, that would be crossing the line of bad taste
