car amp? pioneer/sony fanboys stay out =)

Post by kurupt »

i'm looking to get a new amp. what i have now is an audiobahn intake something or other piece of ★■◆●.

what i want:

under $1000

what i'm running:

3 x 12" 250w (rms) dvc kove subwoofers. i'm hoping to find something that can handle these at the load i want to push them at. i had them wired up and the reading said .87 of an ohm. yes please. ;) right now they are suffering from this amps lack of balls. 2 would be an upgrade.

nakamichi cd400
infinity perfect 6.1
infinity reference 6x9

if i have some money left over i may want to buy something for these as well.

i was browsing around and a few caught my eye, but ive been out of the scene too long to know whats good and whats not anymore.

i looked at xtant, ppi, phoenix gold, mtx, kicker and also a nakamichi but i could only seem to find a lower power model. can anyone reccomend me one of those or maybe something equally good/better (or are some of those not good anymore?)

please no pioneer or sony. if thats what you were going to reccomend, get out of my thread.

=)

I love nagamichi. My nagamichi err however u spell it cd player got stollen tho. I had really great success with Cerwin Vega and Alumnipro subs. I really liked them. As far as Amp it's best to save ur money and buy a reputable one. I don't like sony and pioneer n stuff. Don't buy a no name brand amp that looks nice for cheap. Like pyramid or whatever cause it'll say 700 watts when they really meant 70 watts. Save ur moneys for a decent reputable amp from a store who knows what they're talking about.

I would strongly suggest looking at the Nak PA-2004. I have them in my boat and love 'em. One is driving a Nak 12" and the other is driving(this one is the PA-1004) 4 6.5's. And then one for my 6x9 tower speakers. It's clean power and crazy loud/clean.

If you're looking for an amp that can put out power at .87 ohms, you will not find one.

You can, however, find a 1 ohm stable amp, run it a little under 1 ohms (.87) and pray it doesn't eventually give up on you due to overheating.

What is the wiring configuration of your subwoofers? More importantly, at what ohms are the voice coils?

With this information, I can help you with amplifiers... for my 12" Adire Audio Brahma MKII, I am sending it 800 watts with a Cadence Z9000. Cadence amplifiers are one of the best brands you can get along with USAmps, Arc Audio and so forth.

I've been a regular on www.caraudioforum.com and no one has ever said a bad thing about Cadence amplifiers. I love mine to death.
