I can imagine what goes into training parrots, almost nothing! I have two:
Lilac crowned amazon named "Corky":

African grey named "Emily"

You don't need to teach them anything because they pick-up everything... and I do mean everything. Mine makes most of the D3 weapons noises and knows exactly when to make them. As cute and interesting as they appear to be, they're a lot of work and can be a PITA. I had to start playing D3 with headphones because there have been many times that I thought I was being chased by a smart and I would freak out because it was getting closer and closer and I couldn't find it, turns out it was Emily who sits behind my desk. They have the volume, tone and everything exactly like the game or whatever they are mocking. As crazy as it sounds, she knows what weapons belong in each level and will only use the appropriate ones. They only need to hear a sound one time and they WILL mock it. You have to be very careful what you say around them because eventually, it WILL be repeated.
That Grey didn't have a very clear voice, btw.

bird smarts
Saw a parrot on the tube once, given several cut outs of different shapes each of a different material. given each in turn and asked...what matter blue square? the creature identified it as metal,{it was} asked the same for red circle...replied, wood. Again correct. Out of about eight items..all correct. I got the distinct impression that the bird was not repeating a trained response, but was communicating...in MY language!! absolutely astounding. Ive never been able to see any animal the same ever since.
