Lost my CD

Post by Strat »

Hey all,

I need some help getting an ISO or something for my Descent 3 CD One.

I have all the other CDs (CD 2 and Merc), my first CD just died.

Any help would be appreciated!

what he's saying is that he doesn't want you to obtain it through downloading even though you did obtain the original copy legally. he would rather have you purchase a brand new copy... hey it's only five bucks that you probably don't have, anyway.

I understand that. Maybe I don't agree with it.

I do support, however, the principle of NOT wrongfully and malisoiusly giving away someones hard work. Weather it be software, music or otherwise.

And I actually don't have the money to spare at the moment. Somehow, I don't think the copyrighters would mind someone making me a way to obtain a copy of this CD. I even Paid for it. :) More then $12.99 I might add.

The board rules don't allow us to point you to such ISO's, as they would technically qualify as Warez. Perhaps you could look elsewhere...

Oh come on people, Strat paid for a legitimate copy and you're bugging him/her to buy a new one just because the CD goes tits up? Get off your high horses. If you people are so hell-bent on people spending a "mere" $5 to buy copies of D3, why don't you buy a bunch and give them away to community members that need one?

Strat: If you're in the US, mail me a blank CD-R with return postage and a copy of the UPC and I'll burn it for you. Send me a PM for my address.

In the meantime, you might want to try ISObuster to extract the contents of the CD as an ISO and mount the image with Daemon Tools. If it works, then you can just burn you a new CD using that image with your CD burning client of choice.

word up to that one, md. one of my discs got lost, and someone here (I cannot remember their name, but I owe them a debt of gratitude) happily burned me a copy from their own collection of CDRs and paid to have it sent to me.

to up the ante against md (no offense), strat, I would be more than happy to burn you a copy of cd1 and send it to you. please e-mail me at matt@swfla.rr.com with necessary information.

if this is illegal, so what... i've done worse things...

better yet... if it was that important, he would've asked elsewhere (read: in d3 chat) and it wouldn't have been a problem.

CDs have a finite lifetime dude. This has been shown countless times. Strat's CD just happened to croak earlier. Interplay and Outrage are gone so the community is all he/she has left for a method of replacement. Apparently you never owned D3 when it first came out. The case Interplay chose for it (and many other titles) scratches the hell out of the CD everytime you take it out. They didn't believe in jewel cases back then because they're cheap bastards. (I've got deep scratches in my copy of Starfleet Academy CDs to back this up.)

If this is how you treat members of the community when they come to us in a time of need, then I suggest you don't even bother posting at all if this is all you can contribute.
