Mobius, if you're not going to contribute to this thread, then you need to shut the hell up. And you wonder why hardly any of the CD crew posts here anymore.

man, Mobi, don't you read your PM's? I told you privately to step off about a week ago. Now I'm telling you publicly... if you want to start stuff, do it on some other board.

Well, I would donate a couple systems to you all, but I don't make much money these days. I can only build mine for now... barely... not very motivated to do so, either, because I'm not sure when this game is coming out.

Hey I see this thread is unlocked :]
Sorry I haven't posted anything yet as promised, I am still waiting on the module update from our coders - we have things close but not yet close enough for another major community update. HANG IN THERE!

We received a donation, thank you VERY MUCH to the contributor!

I have given them an itinerary of things to complete and we have to give them more time. Things look good and I guess I could put together some sort of teaser but I really just want to blow your socks off with the next update.

So keep our socks on until then?

If we have to wait for too long, the smell alone will end up stripping paint off the walls!

Speaking of which... will the smell of our socks be able to strip the paint off the walls in Core Decision? :)

I was told by a wise man, that we shouldn't worry about what Mobius says, like that one guy who was crapping on PD, if we ignore him he'll eventually give up. So as soon as he stops getting a rise out of us, he'll slink off into his cave and stay there.

\"Lame\" is such an outdated word. We like to use \"Wanker\" now. just FYI :P

So - I have been updated, sortof.
We have moved our code to a newer codebase which has apparently solved a lot of problems. This is something I wanted to do months ago, so I am pretty happy about it. I am really looking forward to our next media update :]

For the site, I hope so. For the game, probably not - it sounds more than a year off still.

Even if you don't blow off my socks - I surely will be happy with anything new, psionik.
I'm sure you are working hard to bring us this cool game...

I hope the new codebase will help you avoiding annoying bugs and accelerate the development :D

Psionik, I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I really believe in what you guys are doing. I know it's not easy, takes time, blah blah blah... I also read that you're doing 80% of the creative work right now, and I am sure that's taking a lot of your time.

If you're interested, and only if you think it would help, I'll offer my services helping you make music tracks. I majored in music in college, and I'm in the process of setting up a small recording studio in my workshop. I play guitar, bass, drums, and some synths... I just want to help, basically. When I envision Descent-like music, I always go back to the D2 Redbook audio. I've been known to pop it in the car CD player for kicks. :)

You can PM me with a reply (when you have time). Either way, I can't wait for it to be finished. And I'd challenge everybody else to do what they can to help out as well.

Since its going to have music, make sure you have the choice of rock-type music, and some old MIDI type tracks, for those of us who don't care for rock, or whatever Redbook is considered.

I wonder if an option to play music from a specific file/play list would be too difficult to incorporate...

One of the things that made D3 so distinct, was the logos that could be personalized on the side of your pyro, as well as the taunts. Those two aspects really, really, added a lot to the fun factor (at least for all of the people I used to LAN with).

Being able to play your own music would be pretty awesome!

Redbook is what they called actual CD audio, instead of MIDI tracks... remember back when games had nothing but MIDI music? Then they came out with CD music tracks, and it was called Redbook Audio... nowdays they just use MP3's because it's so much smaller and CPU's can handle it.

Mobi is probably not the only one thinking what he expressed here. I found it pretty funny, and while I cannot look behind the scenes of CD and judge what's really going on, the lack of anything going on on the outside can certainly spawn such thoughts. For myself I can say that every contact with CD ended with a disappointment.

Reading Mobius's stuff here gave me a good laugh, realistic or not. And it was on topic.

Time will tell what CD is going to be, one way or another.

I have to admit that I am sceptical about CD, too. Though I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Phew! Other people would probably get banned from here for this.

Judging from the D2X code, fusion shots never exhaust, but will damage every robot/player in their way until they hit some geometry (or their lifetime expires).

The original code has a bug so that a single fusion shot will damage tightly packed robots several times while travelling through the pack (depends on frame rate, the higher, the worse is the effect). That is because each Fusion shot had a single entry 'list' where it stored the last object it had hit to avoid damaging it twice. If it hit several objects in a single frame, it would 'forget' those it had hit first, and damage them again during the next frame.

This bug has been removed in D2X-XL, and you have a triple fusion and the option to ramp up fusion damage in D2X-XL.

A negative attitude about CD can't HELP anything. However, it does contribute to discouraging the people who are working hard on this project and so could therefore hurt.

A positive attitude MIGHT help CD to be completed.

So its a variation of Pascals wager. If you would like to see a new 6 degrees of freedom game come out, being negative about CD has no benefit and possible harm. Being positive about CD has possible benefits and no possible loss if it fails anyway.

So why not be positive?

And in the meantime, I would urge the CD staff to not take Mobius so seriously. None of the rest of us do. :) It just draws more attention to him (and his opinions) to shout back at him.
