Will that model be released publicly? I'd love to put it into Freespace 2. A cockpitted pyro would be loads of fun to fly around. If it's not more difficult, it'd be nice if the map was all in one texture, too.
It'd be a shame for that beauty to not to be flown around! Keep it up!
I'm probably going to end up buying one of these...

Just as a side-suggestion, once this initiative is done...
We should take an altered version of the completed desk pyro to be used as a trophy, start up a new ladder, and make the trophies your prize for winning.

Well I am back.. had to replace a power supply after some troubleshooting on my main rigg
sorry for lack of updates
in chat someone who shall remain the Nameless Zoob! that he is, commented that other pyro's looked more realistic than the DBB Untextured Desk Model.
I replied... this is going to be cast into plastic, so it does not require textures.
So with that in mind, let's put that statement to the test!!!!!@@@ Shall We!! I Dug through an Online Archive and rendered some untextured models that I found. Some of which are not available to the Public!
The Pyro's shall remain Nameless... the rest is history
\"Smoke a Zoob\" go's out to the Idea behind this post!
{ninja edit] it will be updated with 5 versions in a day

Aren't those the same ones from a front and back view? Either way, I agree that I like that one best as well and since I have been following this thread but not posting I want one of these too. Keep up the good work Bubba. ~

pyro model is 2nd to the
3dpro adapter run
models have been ready since July of last year (2007) then i put next stage in motion when i began work on the pilot - but had to stop, and began waiting for a response from KB. I have since given up on that, and continued on my sideline project of an extremely detailed and ready for film gx model.
yes the lowpoly cad model for the desktop model has been ready since last year

Whatever happened with this?
Seemed like everyone was very into this for like a week, then gave up on it.
How strange. This would be awesome if it happened though.

I'd very much like a 12\" Pyro-GX (Eagle's). Did this project just evaporate?
At least I still have all the original max and 3ds files for Eagle's GX. The reason ours came out so well was because, well, I was rather anal about the detail and so was Eagle.
We used an enoumous number of screenshots from D2's intro/outro and escape/arrival videos to get all the elements together. We added the concussion missiles because, quite honestly, the GX looks weird without them. I don't know how we missed the missile mounts...they were there in the intro movie, clearly visible.
When we had finished the ship, we took some renders and sent them to the fellow over at Volition who had been the guy that was going to do the original D4 Pyro-GX. His response was golden... \"Better than the original...\". Eagle was, how should we say, in a state of euphoria for some weeks after that.

Seems like nobody took any actual steps to do anything except for the 3d model guys, I wonder why it's still stickied.

I like to see koolbear's posts on the first page of forum sections. This whole site will only survive for so long.

I have two! Nearly lost my job printing the second one. We need some to create a mold so we can cast these!

WOW something finally happened here.
They look awesome, and I would love to help, but I have no idea how to make molds...
Did you do those by 3D printing? Well, I suppose it was, there is no other way.
I actually thing that that shape is a bit complex for one mold. I think you would need a few:
1) Main fuselage, cockpit, engines and lower wings (you may actually have to do the lower wings separately too, but I'm not sure)
2) 2 left hand lasers
3) 2 right hand lasers
4) Upper wing
5) Other upper wing
When It's done I'll probably buy one.
