I really liked the original Half-Life. That was EXCELLENT!

A couple of others from memory:

Unreal
Serious Sam
American McGee's Alice
No One Lives Forever (omg! this was hilarious)

And among the older stuff:
Duke3D
Rise of the Triad (too difficult!)
Blood
C&C (the original!!)
Diablo (mouse elbow anyone?)
Blake Stone (I still remember this one because it sucked so much)

Haha, memories :)

Tricord, they're making a sequel to Alice. Looks very interesting. Made by the same folks.

I have fond memories of Nomad and Privateer. Both are space games where you trade, run missions, and follow the storyline.

I guess Privateer is a classic. Nomad was really good as well but overlooked.

If we are talking classics here's another DOS relic Elite

That was my very first game that got me into the space flight sim game style. Good old days.

Then there was Space Quest (I think) as well hated that very first area where you had to walk through the plants maze not touching it or it will maul you :x

PS didn't have a PC with EGA/VGA display back then, played those on my dads works pc & friends pc's that only had monochrome displays
