Interesting... I've been working on cleaning up that image in Photoshop and have noticed the ships are somewhat transparent. You can see the background thru them.

Wow, if you could do that on the high-res scan it would be hot...

I was able to remove most of the Moiré effect from the scan. I also sharpened the text, ships and lightened the background a touch. Have a look and tell me if this is what youâ??re looking for. I wouldn't try and do a poster size print from the JPG. I'll supply you the Photoshop or TIFF file if needed but it's HUGE.

600k file as JPG

As a JPG you can see the loss due to compression around the edges of the letters and ships.

Oh ya, one more note. The Photoshop file is 236 Megs. Now before everyone starts razz'n me about that, I didn't merge any of the layers yet.

whoa,
have to say i am a bit suprised to see people are still hanging on to this thread.

Been real busy with midterms latley, so i didnt post earlier,

but,

I went to kinko's with the image, got them to print it out 24"x39", really high quality, and laminated it also. They charged $29.99 for the printout, and this guy i knew there laminated it for free for me.

Poster looks AWESOME! Im trying to get a hold of a digital cam from my friend, so i can take a pic of it and post it.

Thanks again to everyone that helped!

That image is great for a poster, so if one of you can get an even better image, go for it.

thanks again everyone!

What one did you have printed? The original or my touchup?

I had the original printed, before you put up your touch up.

My poster came out better than your touch up though. The edges of the letters and ships are hazy in your pic, but Im sure it is because it is a compressed version.

Yeah, the jacket looks more like Saran Wrap. The contrast in the highlights should be pretty harsh (ie. the highlights are bright, but anything else isn't), not smoothed out. You might have to put more wrinkles in too.
