Have you tried projecting on a painted wall, or is a screen pretty much required?

How well does it keep up with fast paced action? Any blurring or smearing of bright colors like low-response LCDs do?

That price is a bit more then I would really want to spend, but then again there's all that beautiful screen realestate... I must investigate projectors further.
Ok I finally got around to trying this out. It turns out all I had to do was change the projector to analog mode (the DVI cable has both analog and digital pins), then reboot. The computer then treats it like a regular analog monitor. The projector is a little slow in changing resolutions, so you might miss a bios screen if it changes resolutions and then goes away quickly. The analog image quality is definitely less sharp than the digital.

About a painted wall, a screen will be superior to your basic painted wall. Not that the painted wall is unusable, its just not nearly as good. However, there is a company out there that makes special paint just for projectors, so you could either paint a wall with the paint, or get a giant sheet of drywall or something to make your own screen.

It might suffer from the usual LCD problems, but I haven't really noticed anything much. I don't have any trouble with playing D3 on it. You can use any refresh rate you like as long as its 60hz. It works well for TV, and a good dvd (LOTR) will have an image you could just about walk into. I don't have an HDTV setup, but I guess that would really be something.

Oh, that's cool. So I could use the analog cable for BIOS settings and the digital cable for everything else.

Now I need to see if the college has any projectors in their surplus sale. :D

Old pic. The viewsonic 17 is over on the right hand desk now, along with a 15" Sony for the apple. The apple dsplay took a crap. the box you see there has been moved to the right to make room for a new gaming rig I built over the summer. There's also a 19" Mitsu on my desk to replace the viewsonic.

Hey Nos; that looks like a CH stick. Does it have the twist? Or do you use the pedals for twist?

No. The CH Fighter stick does not have twist.

Here is how I have it setup. Upper right hat is a 8 position POV hat that I use for sliding. I use the red button on the upper left to flare. There is a side index finger button that I use for afterburner. The trigger is obviously used for primaries. There is a pinky trigger that I use for secondaries. The hat just under the red thumb button, I have setup in a duel purpose. I use side to side to role. Forward on this hat chooses fusion or omega. Reverse chooses megas or black sharks. The lower right hat I have setup to choose the rest of the primaries. Forward is for concs/frags, right is for homers/guideds, down is for morters/napalm, and left is for smarts/cyclones. The hat on the left of the stick I have choosing the other primaries. Up for Blues/Yellows, Right for MD/Vauss, Down for Napalm/Micro, Left for Plasma/EMD. I have the peddles set so that depressing the right one is thrust forward. The left is thrust in reverse.

Works for me
