It's a classical music term used for movments. A suite of music will have a set of movments that will follow a order and each name has a sort style ect.. They mostly will start from Prelude to Allemande, Courate, Sarabande, Gavotte or a Menuet or even a Bourree.. these type of movments almost always have two parts.

I like Gavotte movment from the Bach Cello Suite V perhaps because it's so mellow.. you've probably have heard it before.. Yo-Yo Ma played it at the 9/11 memorial. Also, on an intresting note.. I have known my wife for 5 years.. and Gavotte I is the 5th movemnt from Suite V..

IMHO, a nickname should always be well thought out and have a small story behind it.

Hey! This thread was started with perfectly good intentions and a very clear direction, for the most part we have done a good job staying on track. I am very proud of everyone who has contributed to make this thread what it has become!
