<------- Oddly, this avatar is quite large and is auto-resized. Right-click and save to see it in it's full size.

But it's also a really stupid design by the phpbb guys...
It's not a phpbb design issue. It's a template design issue. On the temp bb I didn't put width and height tags in the image so that anything that they had was displayed. When you upload your avatar it checks each dimension to see if it's under or at 64x64, and if so accepts it.

So MD's point is only an issue because we haven't disabled remote avatars (which can't be checked for size) and removed the additional width/height issue (added by the current admins)

Exactly. Theres no real reason it should be there, especially now that avatar uploading is fixed.
... which, again, is about a 3-second fix in any decent image editor.
My point is, I shouldn't have to. Its under the limit, and should be displayed correctly.

OMG, really people. Bandwidth is really not the issue here nor is the image size... Lets talk about control...

Those that don't have it want it... those that do make sure we know it.

Like I said in the past. I would be willing to host several avatars on my site to 'reduce' the load on the DBB if off site avatars are allowed.

I'm willing to host avatars so in a way I am willing to pay the bills.
