Tru that, Merlin. I've done it before. The napalm is just like the merc missile, just slower. Fires from a similar gunport too.

One wierd thing: I nailed this guy smack dab in the face with a napalm rocket on Skybox one time, and he kinda burned for a second before he died.

Yeah it's not completely instant. But also I've taken a napalm hit directly in my face and no damage happened. Wethere it was due to loss or just random net bizar who knows. I've also taken a mega to the face and lived. :D

My flag-running feeni had plasma at the top of autoselect for a long time. Granted, I didn't dogfight much, but I did use an awful lot of plasma.

Part of the difficulty with plasma/lasers/etc in D3 is that the spaces are bigger and the ships are faster than in D1 or even D2, and plasma covers less area. Sure, I can gank someone who's flying a BP in a mid-sized room if I'm using plasma, but it's nearly impossible to hit a feeni in an open space (unless you have a huge ping advantage.)

In a pyro-only game in a level with reasonably-sized spaces like Zora, plasma and lasers are quite effective. They just diminish rapidly in large spaces or in tight hallways where trifusion-lobbing rules.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am one and the same Lobber from Kali.

Speaking of Flares... some time ago I created a Flare Cage Match level. You go into an underground staging area, enter starting gates (where your shields are reduced to five shields) and await the opening of the gates into the cage. Therein you are to use flares only against your opponent, else the reactor will open fire upon you. All of these things, gates opening, reactor fire, and exit opening, are controlled from a control room. Hence you need three people to have a match. Two combatants, and one controller.

The name of the level was Duel of Honor, for D1.
And you can download it from here.

What is wrong with you guys?? I'd have to say as far as G.O.A.T. status is concerned, it's a toss-up between the Helix Cannon and the Phoenix Cannon. =P

try a vulcan cannon that spits out merc missiles. o_0 now THAT is insane.

Try mercury missiles that have been crossbred with homing missiles and plasma flares with blobs that explode upon impact as mega missiles that then shake the level and create graviton vortexes which then burn the universe in napalm and frag the outlying galaxies with micro impact mortars?

Trifusion is inherently more difficult to use than regular fusion because the fusion blobs are clustered together, while regular fusion blobs are spread apart.

You have to be much more on-target to shoot and connect with trifusion. Regular fusion lobs in a Pyro or Phoenix give a much larger margin of error.

My logic cannot be refuted.

Refutation:

Even counting the area between bi-fusion blobs, the volume of a tri-fusion is STILL larger, by quite a bit.

I LOL'ed. Trifusion against anything else than a tank is one of the cheapest weapon in Descent. Very easy to use too.

Wrong. The MD is the cheapest weapon in Descent. But that's another story.

A fusion shot can be dodged. An MD shot cannot.

And yes, I use MD. It's part of the game, so I don't cry about it, unlike some people do about Fusion 8)

I believe Grendel said \"one of\" the cheapest weapons. I don't think anyone here would argue that MD isn't also in that category.

Since trifusion is composed of 3 fusion blobs instead of 2, it is mathematically 1.5x more difficult to harness and control. This is pure math and cannot be denied.

It's true. Being around longer makes you a better man than everyone else.

Unfortunately, that means you're worth a meagre 50% of what everyone else is!

If I use a purple pyro, that cancels it out.

I would have to say that the D3 Fusion would have to be in the running for GOAT.

Ask any weapons officer in the military, and they would tell you, any weapon to be considered as a best of must have the following characteristics…

1. Efficiency
2. Power
3. Reliability
4. Ease of use.

And the D3 Fusion has all of the above.

D1-D2 Fusion was lacking some of the above.

In D3, MD is really the weapon of choice ahead of Fusion, even though that's a good weapon in its own right.

It may not kill as quickly as a fully charged triple fusion blast, but it doesn't have to, because you can't dodge it.

QFT this powerful, thoughtful, & intelligent reply.

You would all do well to listen to Spidey on this occasion. His wisdom is beyond those who question the Greatness of Fusion.

Funny how people always want to describe \"efficient\" weapons, as \"cheap\"

Do you guys think cars are a \"cheap\" form of transportation, because they are so efficient? Maybe you take a horse and buggy? LOL @ you

You just don't get it, DT. With Fusion, and especially tri-Fusion all you have to do is depress that trigger and years of practice and honed strategy melt away as your opponents perish--regardless of skill level--in a brilliant purple burst of raw, unlimited power! That's just not fair, and it's not right. Anyone who uses anything but blues and concs is a pussy. ...And anyone who kills someone that has only blues and concs is also a pussy. ;)

Here is a thought for anyone who cries about Trifusions GOATness : When you see it coming toward you, move out of the way. I do it all the time and it works really well
