Based on that, I can't really recommend anything.

As far as I know, MS Paint does not save as icon files.

I understand that you don't necessarily want freeware, but GIMP (www.gimp.org) is definitely not stupid and fake. It is stable and well-tested, and has features comparable with Photoshop CS2. I'm not sure why you don't want freeware, but GIMP is a reputable program, and there is no way that you will get any spyware by downloading and installing it. I don't want to turn this into a debate about freeware, but you should at least consider GIMP.

Yes, I know about GIMP. But it's TOO HARD TO USE!

just make the icon in ms paint and use \"infranview\" to convert it to ico format

I use infranview all the time, one of the best image convertors imo, and completely free

I don't know what kind of quality you're looking for, but you could make the image in just about any image-editing program (MS paint, for example), then simply open it in GIMP and save as an icon file. There may be other methods of converting to .ico files, but that's one of 'em.

EDIT: By golly, right there's another one. Thank you.

I used GIMP and did it. Thanks. But I'll be slowest learn about GIMP. If need help, I will just visit to GIMP's web. Microsoft PhotoDraw is so easy, but that program is not well in XP...
