It's amazing she survived this long. She could have become hurt or sick and that would have been the end of her.

Dude, you need psychological help. Seriously. Especially after you posted that nasty ass comic (which I'm quite amazed remains open and post un-edited given the content).

I think this speaks to the vitality and ingenuity of people in general. She had no one to feed her, offer her shelter, etc; much unlike the American homeless. This woman actually lived in the wilderness, where there are much more dangers, and the stakes are alot higher.

Democrats and the homeless could sure learn a lesson from her.

Why is everyone jumping on Isaac? It's a valid question.

In any case, all I can say is wow.

I agree with Beowulf on Issac's question, though it could have been phrased a bit better :P . I read about this wild woman the other day and the thought did cross my mind on how she lived through that. Any young woman who goes through menstration and not know anything about it would probably freak out the first several times.
Then again, she probably knew about it from the village life with other women.
That is amazing that someone can survive in the jungle like that. I bet she just ran away from home :P

Better her than me.
I'd never survive.

Just one word - incredible.
Hope in future she will be able to describe how it was possible for her to stay alive. It's very interesting fact.

No kidding. She should charge people to live a year with her in the woods with her. In fact, i bet something like that happens.

For the uninitiated, I was referring to this thread (which is obviously against the guidelines for the Cafe given the content that clearly would belong in the NHB).

Only that people can survive on that level doesn't mean they ought to. It's all about civilization, you know, and that has something to do with being and behaving civilized. ;)

Oh, I agree! but I think that congruently, the point that CCB is making is that we are SO MUCH more capable than that which we've allowed ourselves to become as a society.

While some of the homeless actaully CHOOSE to be that way, many do not. Many are mentally ill. The exact reasons are endless and vary from person to person. The Democratic party, in many respects, has perpetuated public dependancy..... gah.. break is over. This has been hashed over before in E&C several times.

i just find it amazing that a child can survive for that long growing up. will power to live is amazing, the jungle book story comes to mind, just never thought a real life version would really happen

This has happened before but for 18 years. I'll try to find something.

Actually Lobber, a child was found living in the jungle (found in his early teens)around the turn of the last century. That was the insperation of Mougly (?) the book: Jungle Book

So this does happen from time to time. One of the curious things they found about this boy was that a gunshot didn't startle him or cause him to jump, the cracking of a nut did.

Lets just pretend she found a box of tampons in the forest...

Either way, that is just amazing... I would of eaten the poison berries or something in 17 years.
