stuff like the pic of 12 individual atoms is what impresses me most about this stuff.
Havn't they recently discovered a new way of lensing light, so that it can focus on things smaller than it's wavelength - ie: all the way down to the nanometer scale? i recall reading about it in http://nextbigfuture.com/ a month ago or so - they were primarily excited about it because it would extend the usefulness of photo-lithography (how we make computer chips). But i wonder if they could make a microscope using it.
(i really don't understand how it's possible to focus lower than the frequency length, but there you go!)
