Eh, no big loss. Never had one. Don't need one. Got better things to do.

And Nintendos been around for about one-hundred-and-twenty-years. Fancy that.

\"The greatest gaming brand in history\" is a horrible overstatement. They've only made two great consoles and one semi-successful console. And it looks to be heading the way of Sega at the moment.

No lie. Founded in 1889. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo

By the way, don't count the PS3 out yet; it's perhaps the only console that seems to be gaining momentum at the moment (though one could argue there is nowhere else to go). They may still be in the race with the price gradually dropping and more games coming out... though time will tell if it's just too little too late after the first year and a half went horribly wrong (the PS3 only recently started out-selling its predecessor). The damage to its developer support may already be done.

ah. It seems the playstation has NOT actually been around for 20 years. It was on the drawing board since 1988, but it only came out in 1994 - 14 years ago. Not 20.

Yeah, I smelled a rat when I saw that too, because I knew that the PS1 came out in the mid-90s...

I had an old moment a bit ago where I read an IGN article that opened or something with, \"Have you ever wondered where those Nintendo characters origionated from?\"

They proceeded to introduce me to Mario1 where I then closed my browser and wept.

I wonder if I can get my hands on a Hanafuda set. Could be fun at parties...

I've got you all beat! I had the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972. The first home video game system ever sold, anywhere. It had forty transistors and forty diodes and the game cartridges had only jumper wires inside them. You even had to put screen overlays on the TV screen! So I feel even OLDER!

I remember watching my siblings play the first Final Fantasy. My brother might've play some, but mostly my two older sisters played. I was too young to understand how to play the game, but I still took entertainment out of watching the game. Good times...

I remember the Atari Breakout in a 7-11 (convenience store in the USA)... It had a whopping TWO levels.

When you beat the 2 levels... Game Over.

That was around the early 1970's.

Far cry from today's video games.

I still have my PlayStation. It's sitting behind me right now, hooked up to my TV. My wife and I play on it once in a while.

(P.S. It's only 20 years old if you count from when the idea for it was first thrown around. It's 13 years old from when it first showed up on US shelves.)
