Might be nice if those links in the Support pages actually pointed to some files.
Makes me think of Rock Ridge!

Anyway, make sure you sign up and vote Descent as your favorite original Interplay creation.
Back in the day, we had to battle with fans of Freespace to keep Descent IV possible, now let us battle with these fans of Fallout. Raise the numbers so Descent is seen as number 1, as it should be. That way, Interplay will consider making Descent IV first.

My hope:
Let them finally release D1 and D2 data files as FREEWARE.
I do not really cared about anything beyond D2...

Nice image on the Descent page. I had to chuckle at listing D1 and D2 but using D3 screenshots!
don't forget to reg with the new forums. That's where I first heard about
this site..on the Interplay forums.. that and Kali.

I'll start getting excited when they announce that the work on a new Descent has started, anything after that is bunk to me. That doesn't mean that I won't register on their forums though

It's about freakin' time that they updated their site. I'm so dead excited about D4 (If they're gonna do it).

X2 - Let's hope they manage to keep their heads above water.

Seeing as they just started selling them again at gog.com. I doubt very much they'd turn around and give it away for free.

Interplay launches new web site; adds Chris Taylor to growing development team.
I like that bit of news.

lol
Fallout already has another title in the pipeline. Bethesda is working on it. The release date for that one is pretty close actually.
I don't see Interplay working on another Fallout title themselves. Which is unfortunate for them, because Fallout is going to be a much more popular game.

I'm surprised that Interplay hasn't released more of their back catalog on Steam. Putting these on Steam, coupled with some kind of weekend discount deal, would get them a lot of free exposure in blogs.

I can see Interplay working on a Fallout game themselves. A MMORPG Fallout. I see it on their career page.

Word is that's exactly what they're doing. Whether they intend to do anything with their other franchises after that launches (3-4 years away) or by doing something like subcontracting before its release (risky) remains to be seen though.

That's interesting.
I'll wait and see on that. Interplay has a lot to redeem themselves for.

I'm not saying that the Descent franchise is any better, but an MMO seems so risky. The vast majority of MMOs fail within months. I'm afraid that even with the upcoming sequel, Fallout probably doesn't have the kind of name recognition it needs to catch on either.

I give that a 95% chance of being a rickroll or similar.

Yes, that is a point... maybe they smell money since they know there are chances again to play the games on modern PCs...
For me it's a VERY disappointing action...
Making money with a product far older than 10 years ...
And seeing Interplay get's money for data files some players might use with DXX or XL is really disgusting for me.

I'm not interested in D4 as long as they do not release it for Linux - and I mean a real release - not such a buggy program as Loki's D3!

Hey, I'm skeptical, too.
But if there's a chance they may develop something (anything!) Descent-related in the future, let's support it.
So, even if you're as skeptical about the results as I am, go over there, vote for Descent as your favorite Interplay game, and post your support.

isnt Chris Taylor with GPG games? I thought he was the main guy there....did he leave to go back to interplay?

There are 2 Chris Taylors.

This is not an official site. Anything on D4 there is from the old days of Volition.

That site is currently maintained by ccb056, I believe.

Note:
Descent is losing to Fallout in the poll for favorite Interplay game on the new Interplay forums, by a current vote of 170-49!
I think this community should be able to drum up a little more support than that...

Descent can not win that poll. Fallout was just magnitudes more popular - I'm surprised to see it leading by 3-1. I expected more like 30-1.

Depends on HOW you let people vote and how many times too.
Personally don't like HAVING to be a member of a forum to vote on a main page vote.
DOH!
