US silver dollar contained .848749 oz in silver when the US had real money.

Current silver price is about 11.71oz in current currency value

11.71 * .848749 = $9.93 in current currency value

$9.93 will buy 2.929 gallons @ 3.39 gal

3.39 / 9.93 = 0.341

This would make 1 gal of gas cost 0.34 if we had real money today.
