I mean what the F? Barack Obama who has no track record of ANY success as president AND is pushing the war in afghanistan gets the nobel peace prize.

what a joke. its funny how big of a hard on europeans have for obama, yet he just switches to another war and its OK for them. the only good thing about obama right now is that he's a new face and he's not bush and europe likes him. other than that his economic policies are a failure, he is ramping up war in Afghanistan, and is medical plan is a ★■◆●ing joke.

just reminds me that both republicans and democrats are awful and that government is just one giant scam. get me to Monaco for a tax haven, omg.

I think the Nobel peace prize has been a joke for the last decade and a half. I mean, seriously, Al Gore got one for his work on climate change? It's a real stretch to turn that into a "peace" issue, and it's an insult to actual peace and human rights activists to be passed over for him. The prize is no longer about peace, but about leftism.

Obama's award was voted for within his first couple of weeks in office, not for any accomplishments relating to "peace" or anything else, but simply because he's not Bush. Leftists saw him as an ally because of his campaign rhetoric and domestic policy votes. Turns out he's actually quite hawkish on defense, so those who voted for his "leftism" prize are made to look foolish because his approach to military affairs isn't exactly pacifistic.

I bet their blood boiled when they heard this:
Barack Obama wrote:I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler’s armies. Negotiations cannot convince Al Qaeda’s leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force is sometimes necessary is not a call to cynicism – it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.

I raise this point because in many countries there is a deep ambivalence about military action today, no matter the cause. At times, this is joined by a reflexive suspicion of America, the world’s sole military superpower.

Yet the world must remember that it was not simply international institutions – not just treaties and declarations – that brought stability to a post-World War II world. Whatever mistakes we have made, the plain fact is this: the United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms.

Yep. So sad.

Its funny because I tried to tell the democrats that wanted to vote for Obama that they weren't getting an anti war candidate, they were getting a candidate that wanted to make MORE war.

I mean ★■◆●, we may have gotten peace in the middle east faster with bush still in office. i mean what the ★■◆●ing ★■◆● is going on.

oh, look, it's \"birdzai.\" ;)

That whole \"left-right\" thing is just an illusion.

About the Nobel Peace Prize, I'm sure the true peacemakers never get the prize.

Actually Insurrectionist, try to picture what the world would be like today if we, the U.S., had done nothing...including responding to 9/11, for the last 60 years. You actually think the world would be more secure?

You're taking it wrong.

I have no love for this president at all and now to turn around and start spouting things like this makes me more angry at him and those other people in Washington after all the apologies he has made for the US It's to late for him to start acting tough now. We should have just gone in and took care of these people decades ago. On top of that every time you turn around we are spending a trillion dollars on every bill that goes before congress. IT just has to stop. It won't though people just keep voting these people back in who want to take our rights away and turn this great country into the USSR or some other great socialist society that will fail in the end any way. I just hope most of you are paying attention to what is going on so you can be prepared for what's going to happen if it doesn't stop.
