I just recently bought an X-Box system. Mostly for Halo, Halo 2, and Half Life 2 but for many other games as well. Anyway, while I was buying it in a store that's just across the lake from me, I heard some guys talking about a massive Halo X-Box competition. I asked them where it was and it was in an Arena that is in town in on May 22nd!! It's a team competition with 4-players per team and 256 teams will be able to get registered with them to compete!! Anyway, it's like $40 per team so split 4 ways, it would be $10 a player. Also, in this Arena, every event in this stadium ever usually is on the news and they plan to sell tickets for people to come and observe the competition. Anyway, I want to see if I can round up some of my real-life buddies for this. But it should be a lot of no-lag fun for $10, some soda, and a half-hour drive. :)

Bah, Halo isn't that great. And the multiplay is boring compared to games like BF1942 and UT2k4.

Well, the City isn't that big. It's in Pocatello, Id. Bah, I don't care if I'm gonna get owned. It should be fun, especially to find out where I am on skills. I hope to go to a LAN party in Salt Lake City this summer and do some PC Halo and D3 so this can show me and my buddy where we are at and what we need to get up to. Besides, I might pick up some cool tips. I've been a Halo fan and player for some time now. Even though I didn't own an X-Box my friends and I have played it for a long time and I had the PC demo the day it came out playing multi-player and then the full PC version. Now I have the X-Box version which I find to be a lot more fun anyway. :)

Better than UT2K4? Nah, UT2K4 copied Halo. One of the first vehicles I saw for that resembled Halo's Warthog. Besides, UT2K4 is going to get owned by Halo 2 next Fall. :)

Those two statements aren't mutually exclusive.

Yep, good eyes Tet, even I have to hand that one to ya :) Sorry, I wrote that when I was pretty out of it but very wired. Anyway, to re-state that:

Better than Halo? Nah, UT2K4 copied Halo.

Not on everthing but one of their vehicles looks waaaay too familiar.

Besides, in Halo, you don't just get a multi, but you get an awsome single player campaign, co-op (the best part of the game is turning it up to legendary and going 2-player co-op) through the full game. And there is more to it than just hogging all the guns for yourself and shooting as many people as possible. In Halo you have to decide, do I want that weapon or not cause you can only carry 2 with limited ammo.

Anyone have any tips to help me out with? :)

I've got Halo for PC and I did lots of backtracking on Legendary in order to drag 4 weapons through the levels (Pistol, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher). Worked very well.

Get your pistol aim down. Two body shots to drop the shield, then one headshot to kill. Against a good player, you generally have four shots before you die, or five if you surprise them, so make those shots count. And don't jump around when fighting - it just makes you an easier target.

pistol owns halo, normally thats all you need. a sniper is good when you can get it, but make sure you use the bullets wisely.

If you're ok at descent you should be awesome at Halo, I play D3 and Halo online (PC demo, I'm a cheapass) and I get a much higher effic in halo than in descent. Keep in mind that I'm chuggin along with my trusty PCI TNT2 at 40fps in Descent and no textures in Halo (it's all shades of white)

haha, I had the luxury of facing HP-Darkman in my VERY FIRST halo tournament match. Considering I was fighting against the future national champion, I did pretty good. Still got owned hehe.

dont listen to bubbalou, he's an idiot. halo is incredibly strategy dependent, its just like tribes.

just learn the pistol until you can 3 shot kill at ease and you'll be fine.
