5870 - D3D or OGL for D3?

I've been noticing some weird behaviour in D3 with my 5870 specifically the radical framerate dipping in PTMC tower level I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or also uses a 5870 and whether I need to specify certain settings in CCC control panel.

What part of the level?

Running under Direct3D or OpenGL?

What sound card? (I ask, because many of the performance complaints I've seen in D3 turn out to be audio-related.)

-------------

FYI, D3 runs perfectly smooth for me in all scenarios on my 4870 under OpenGL.

I have the 5870 and it works fine under OpenGL. Make sure its not set on Direct 3D.

The part of the level 4 (I think?) near the end at PTMC tower where you do the uplink of the data and then fight the mercenary pyro's. You'll see strange framerate phenomena.

My sound card is an x-fi.

I have an X-Fi as well. Make sure your audio drivers are updated. I've seen audio issues cause framerate drops, especially with Creative cards.

But again... are you using Direct3D or OpenGL?

Seriously........ Folks

#1 New Pilots really need to read Stickied Threads before posting

#2 Others really need to stop introducing their personal meaningless fanboi driven issues.... before derailing the issue in question

Not that complicated - point the new user to a relevent thread instead of trying to create your own

No Thread Reference = Not Read = Vain ++Postcount EP Attempt

/end sarcasm :P
