I don't think I could easily get D2 running on my X2 machine, but it runs well on my Win 95 setup with the Voodoo2 card. Heck, my Windows XP box doesn't even have a game port to plug in my Sidewinder 3D Pro. I don't think it does, anyway. Will that Mumble Voice Server work under Win 95?
TxCowboy still works at the same place as before, our parent company. I'm in a different building about 3-4 miles away, so I don't see him often. I'm fairly sure he hasn't played Descent in quite a while.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get D2 running on your XP machine if you follow the 3 steps on the Rangers homepage. Up and Running in 10 minutes - literally.
And you can get a manhattan \"gameport to USB\" device for $19 and use your old Sidewinder.

CajunAce... I just played D2 with Koolbear, Cemada... and a whole bunch of others I can't remember in D2 WITHOUT Kali
. It was so much fun to be playing again!
Get the dust off that machine and get back in Descent!

Maybe I'll give it a try after next week. I'll be off from next Friday through Jan. 3rd. The main issue I may have is that my old PC runs Win 95, so that program to play D2 on may not work on it.
I think it was around Halloween of 1996 when Koolbear sponsored both me and TxCowboy as Rangers. It would be fun to play online again. Maybe I could even find Razor (or one of my other co-op buddies) and get a co-op game going.

Hey, just found this old file on my PC. It's the D3 $50,000 tournament ad. Interplay used a bunch of current online players' names in the ad. I'm in there in the far right circle: \"In the tunnel, CajunAce lands a frag behind an unsuspecting Kevlar...\"

Why type in Kali when we have LIVE VOICE on mumble while playing, and a direct UDP connect with 50 pings.
You should get on our Facebook group page and get the login for Mumble Buef - we're having a blast.

I might sign up for this just to try D2 online (rather than on lan). I have D2X-Rebirth installed and even though I use D2X-XL preferentially for single player, I like D2X-Rebirth better for multiplayer so far as it's not graphically intensive so it doesn't have the periodic framerate problems that D2X-XL and TrackMania do.

Activity hasn't been great lately, at least from my perception (logging on Mumble for two minutes every-so-often and seeing the same AFK people there probably doesn't constitute a very detailed study). Still, it's been forever since we've had posts like these ones in the Descent community... you usually have to go to XBL/WoW/flavour-of-the-month console shooter to find them these days.

The Descent Rangers shall live onwards and for the most of us, it is certainly the best thing that has ever happened for us, the community and the warmth within just feels good, if people have no time to fly down in the mines, there shall always be a time they will be around, I'm like take your time my comrades of the Force, feel like fly'n, I am sure to meet up with you's!
We have to be proud that the oldest clan in the world is willing to be active, time for a donation me thinks

Meh, to be honest I never saw you once on mumble ...
and I am like on there every day... so lieing to us like you are doing now isn't uhm smart, it's lowering your rep and also doing this on the Interplay forums and linking the Descent Rangers site to your pointless rants isn't wise either
http://www.interplay.com/forums/viewtop ... 366#p38139
I am seeking new recruits for this clan, not rant n00bs that lack a brain
Truly I have no idea how you make such things up, it's rather making you look pathettic towards the rest, to me you are a shameless and careless
"fiend", the name kinda says it
It is not the Descent Rangers fault that most of our members have busy lives, that you have issues with your patience and lack of vision for others isn't like our problem to deal with, so please take a hike and rant elsewhere

Well said Obi. I'm not a part of the Descent Rangers, but I know it's a nice group of good friends, and sincerely Fiend's attitude doesn't fits on Descent Rangers as it doesn't looks as friendly as everyone on the Rangers is
(maybe becuase he is 'fiendly'?).

Guys, lately I've seen Fiend around (i.e. actually in-game, rather than just chatting or whatever) considerably more often than anyone else.
In fact, I just finished two hours of D3 gaming with him.
He was looking for action, and didn't find it. There's no need to attack him for that.

Nobody minds if he doesn't find the Rangers to be what he's looking for... it's the attitude they mind. I should also note that the Rangers are not generally a D3 group.

Excuse me Fiend do you think the Rangers owe you something? As I have been away for 20 + days from the Internet I am just now catching up on the drama. Foil he's been posting all over the Internet including forums at Interplay, how Rangers are a Nub clan, (1996 a nub clan?) we suck, etc. Definitely not Ranger material at this point in his life.
He is welcome to re-apply in three months I think the rules say. Maybe when he realizes what he gave up and is honestly willing to move along in his life, he can join in playing some of the best Descent pilots on the Net. I play some D3 so he could have posted that he's into D3 and had a game anytime.
P.S.
I have been seeing a whole bunch of old names popping by for games and getting a bunch of games in, check out our site.

Fiend can only decrease his reputation to over most descent 1/2 Veterans out there, the Descent Rangers is the oldest and largest Descent clan known in the world and calling it a n00b clan ... that is the utmost stupid thing you can do even when you have truly no idea who you are talking at.
Such bad moves were by
Fiend, by exactly when spreading is rant posts on major websites like Interplay.com, Descentbb.net and the main Descent Rangers website with numerous topics..
Here they are Foil, read for yourself:
Here his introduction topic, he has not even been a memeber for like a week and he starts complaining...
http://www.descent-rangers.net/forum/vi ... f=19&t=158
The he makes another topic, just to push us around and yeaps he calls us slow... he is more like slow in tha head imo
http://www.descent-rangers.net/forum/vi ... f=19&t=161
The I found this on interplay, heh bad moves were made, I'm like I have a lot of contacts @ Interplay... What does he do? He first agrees, then I welcome him and then he posts am link to one of his rant topics which has been posted at the Descent Rangers Forum...what a brass, pain in the ass:
http://www.interplay.com/forums/viewtop ... 372#p38139
Then I find this topic @ descentbb.net
viewtopic.php?p=280966#p280966
It seems he is posting his rants all over the place and I won't be surprised he posted his rants on other Descent webpages ...
Peace.

Gentlemen, we need to tone down the personal flames I am a Descent Ranger I feel his comments are out of line but in now way should anyone be personally attacking Fiend.
I am sorry this is Ferno's forum and I shouldn;t be saying anything but let's not get personal please.
Gold Leader please re-read your inflammatory post, either remove your personal attacks or force your post to be deleted.

Sorry but removing facts that have taken place is pointless, it would mean you are agreeing what has taken place.. yes? no? It could mean you accept him insulting others? It is very normal for others to react in a similar way back KB.
To be very honest here, I can ashure you that the all of the Descent Rangers did not like what took place, protecting a sith is not my kinda way out, sorry he has done too much damage to the innocent ones.
It's that I stand up for my allies when they are threatened, never against them, that isn't my way my nature, simple and plain.

Repeatedly calling someone out in a public forum just to bash them is childish (even if they were being childish themselves), don't lower yourself to their level or you end up looking like a fool too.
I'm locking this thread until Ferno gets back and decides what to do with it.

okay.
Normally I would just split off the flames and keep the topic running. But since the lot of you (kb, canuck and krom excluded) wouldn't stop arguing about something this inconsequential, I'll leave all posts here as an example of what not to do.
Do it again and i'll gas the topic.
